What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"This place is lovely. I am so excited to see how it transforms as they continue to get into the groove. There is a playful sophistication in the air that continues to relax and soften as the drinks flow into the later hours of the night and the music settles into everyone’s bones. We loved. As an FYI since they just opened: MAKE A RESERVATION. Don’t be like me 🥲 A three-hour wait time and then a quick five minutes to return back or lose your spot once a table becomes available is tough. A text alert for next in the queue would be great… so would making that huge outdoor area a comfortable waiting spot so everyone isn’t crowded around the bar and host stand. Or add more seats for eats out there. It could be a vibe with the right creature comforts! it can give the inside space some much-needed breathing room. There are a lot of tripping and head-booping hazards. If you have mobility issues, I can’t yet recommend, especially since there isn’t a way to call ahead and ask for accommodations, I don’t think. The Friday night DJ was a vibe. Everyone was having a time. The food and drinks were delicious. The staff did their best to make sure that we were taken care of and even with the issues, we were glad to have stuck it out to experience the new kids in town. I know they’re going to get it together. The rice bowl was nice… I do wish it was a medium boiled ramen egg instead of over medium cracked egg, but that’s not even a huge deal. The fixin’s on top were on the skimpy side compared to the amount of rice served with it. I loved the salt bomb deviled eggs. Their unique take on them is so fun. The salmon hand roll is tiny but good. High Dive is here to stay. It’s beautiful, it’s fun, there’s passion in those walls, and this creative space is one I intend to get to know better. I can’t wait to update this review!"
"Awesome place. We arrived at 6:30 on a Thursday and had to wait about 1.5 hours. They have an outdoor patio with fire pits/chairs/heaters so with drinks we didn’t mind the wait. Food: Phenomenal. That truly sums it up. The only thing I won’t get again is the pimento cheese sandwich. Everything else we ate and saw looked spectacular. Service: They were busy - I get it. We waited a while at our table for service. She was training another server, both were extremely kind! I had to go get her so she could take our order, again it was busy so I understood. Overall 4/5 and I can’t wait to return to try other items!"
"From the moment you walk in, the ambiance makes an immediate impression. The balance between sound and silence inside is so perfectly tuned that I honestly can’t recall experiencing anything like it in any other restaurant. The quality of the furniture, the harmony in the design, and the level of craftsmanship all come together as a true expression of elegance. A space like this naturally calls for exceptional food—and it delivers. The egg and cheese sandwich I had for breakfast was absolutely outstanding. There was a subtle tanginess to it that I still can’t quite figure out. I considered asking about it, but decided not to—some things are better left as a mystery so the magic stays intact. The smoked maple cappuccino was exactly what its name promises, with every note coming through beautifully. As I sipped my coffee after the meal and gazed out the window, I noticed the old cassette tape they use as an order number on the table. That small detail unexpectedly pulled me straight back into childhood memories. It was an incredibly peaceful breakfast. The way music exists within the silence here is an experience you’ll be hard-pressed to find at almost any other restaurant. Beyond the space itself, their effort to turn the entire block into a destination is truly admirable. I’m already looking forward to seeing the final result once all the construction is complete."
"NYC quality food & immaculate sound systems got married, then decided to move to Bham without charging insane prices. How did we get so lucky??? Seriously, High Dive is a GIFT to Birmingham & if we ever lose her I'm fighting all of you. I personally loved the egg & cheese sandwich on Japanese milk bread. I didn't want meat so they offered an option to add an extra egg! The pork katsu was out-of-this-world good. Fried deviled eggs were also brilliant, but the little citrus zest to it was a little surprising. We went for lunch counter service. No issues at all! Fast service, super clean, very pleasant all around."
