What People Are Saying
from Google"Jada was very friendly and knowledgeable at this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. The beef fat candle was very flavorful. The mushroom conserva was savory, spicy and delicious. The paella was expertly crafted. I highly recommend this restaurant for someone looking for small plate, creative and delicious gourmet food."
"We have been here a few times over the years and come here mainly for their beef fat candle. I fell in love with it the first time we came when they first opened. This time it wasn't quite up to par. The candle didn't burn long enough to melt the fat properly, so by the end you were eating concealed fat pieces on the bread, a bit gross. The bread was overdone, so too hard/crunchy and not absorbing the dip properly. I asked for fresh bread and they brought out some, which is how I found out the bread is "fresh from the fridge" instead of "fresh from the oven". I expected more at a restaurant like this. I am hoping this was a fluke since we did not have similar issues before instead of the restaurant/dish has gone downhill. Will try it again before we write it off forever. We also tried the Mushroom Conserva. It was different and pretty flavorful. I don't know that I would order it again, but it was good to try. The ambiance is always good here, definitely a good date night location if you are in the mood to splurge a bit."
"Good experience. Haven’t done tapas in a while and from what I could tell, OvenBird doesn’t specifically market itself as a tapas restaurant. Given that, I appreciated that our server set the tone and let us know what most diners do in terms of number of plates and methods. Food was good. Our table ordered the empanadas ($14 for simply 2 empanadas is pretty crazy, the quantity was not made known on the menu). Also ordered the paella, which was solid, proteins consisted of Chicken and Conecuh Sausage, which was a nice Southern twist on paella. They were good, but the price point was not ideal. I ordered the Choripan (very good) and Snapper Throat (also good, a bit heavy on the BBQ sauce). Great experience, good ambience."
"Wow! This has to be some of the best food I have ever had. We had five different dishes and two desserts. Everything was wonderful flavorful and perfectly cooked. They have tables right near the grill. I recommend sitting there. I’ll definitely go back."
"Pretty good place if you want to try some unique items! The menu seems to change and they have some pretty delicious small "tapas" style plates. You have to try the beef fat candle. I know it sounds weird but it is absolutely delicious and unlike anything you have ever tried. Their chorizo and steak are also excellent."
