"I arrived at about 10:05 am on 1-20-2026. I rarely go downtown anymore so when a do a full sized Richman Poboy is what I order. The sandwich comes out doubled wrapped. You can feel the warmth and smell the olive salad right away. Unwrapping the Butcher paper, you are hit with the mustard and olive salad smell.......a one, two punch. Unwrapping the inner layer, you get "it all". Meat, mustard and olive salad aroma just smacks you in the face. Gooey cheese, soft bread, and the perfect combo of ingredients for the best sandwich in Birmingham, in my opinion."

"For over 30 years, the Richman sandwich from Ranelli's is unique and can't be beat. The olive salad mix and fresh bread are delicious. It's very small inside but there is also seating on an outdoor patio."

"I have been eating here for over thirty years and having the all you can eat lasagna that is phenomenal on Thursdays or the Richman sub that has olive salad on it that just makes the sandwich if you like olives, it is great! I do enjoy eating here on the patio. They have had an older patio but just renovated the patio and it has a roof and it’s larger. It makes a very nice spot to eat lunch and enjoy the afternoon."
