What People Are Saying

"Been wanting to try out The Mayor for a while, and finally made it for lunch on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Relaxed vibes, with couches here and there and a few patio tables. Big garage doors can open and make the entire place open air (as it was when we went). Not many people there around noon on a Saturday, no line to order and we had our pick of tables. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and our food was ready very quickly. Ordered a Saigon Sling cocktail, chicken lettuce wraps, Korean beef banh mi w/ fries substituted in place of wonton chips, and white chocolate bread pudding. All were fantastic. The lettuce wraps come disassembled, for your own construction. The banh mi was super flavorful (and a little messy), and the soft roll was a nice touch. Solid fries. The bread pudding was soft and decadent, though a bit pricey compared to the rest of the menu."

"The Korean Beef Banh Mi was amazing and would recommend to anyone. Collegue order mozzarella sticks for the table and they were a huge. Service was quick during lunch and they have a patio seating for when its cooler."

"A few days ago, my friends and I stopped by The Mayor around 8:40 PM because the restaurant is listed as being open until 11:00 PM. Unfortunately, we were not greeted upon entering. While sitting at our table, I overheard the bartender mention to other guests that although they normally close at 11, she did not want to stay open that late and might close early. When someone in our party went to ask about the menu and how much longer they would be open, the response was delivered with an attitude. We were told that if we planned to eat there, we would need to order quickly because they might close within the next 30 minutes to an hour—without providing a clear closing time. We had a party of 10 and ultimately decided to leave and eat elsewhere. This was disappointing, as some of us were visiting The Mayor for the first time and were genuinely interested in trying it. The lack of hospitality made the experience very discouraging."

"Upon first glance, I totally thought this place was closed. It was SO DARK around the restaurant/bar AND inside. That being said, the food was decently yummy (but do not expect the same level as the sister restaurant, East West) and the drinks were good! I’d say this is probably a fun place for groups of people, and for those focused on the bar vibe with more upscale food than a bar, but still not quite elite status as far as bars go."

"As we've really enjoyed EastWest downtown and Mr. West's in Trussville, we wanted to see what they'd done here at the old Skycastle location we liked. The food was excellent as at both other restaurants, and the drinks are really good too - despite being draft cocktails. And hey, they're $10 cocktails in a town where $13-$16 is common. The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired and is more similar to Mr. West's than EastWest. They need smaller tables on the great patio and more soft seating like couches. We loved that about Skycastle. The food and drinks are very good though, and maybe they'll work on the vibe a bit as they haven't been open very long."
