"Tonight was the Lt. Governor's debate Special shout out to the City of Hoover, Alabama Policy Action, and Right side media for making this happen! The venue was excellent! I had my children with me and they enjoyed hanging out in the children's section until the debate was over!"

"Absolutely love this library! I bring my toddler here nearly every day. The Hoover Public Library offers so much for both kids and adults. There’s a dedicated play area for younger children, a large kids’ section for reading and playing, and plenty of story times, including on Saturdays! There's also a teen area, a media section, two computer/printing areas, and even services like voting, passport applications, and passport photos (by appointment, 10 AM–3 PM). A police officer is stationed at the entrance, which adds a sense of security. You can check out up to 150 items of books, movies, games, and more. 150! That’s incredible. There’s ample parking, full accessibility for those with disabilities, and the library also partners with United Way and hosts food pantry events. I’ve even seen they offer tech literacy support, you bring in your device, and someone will help you learn how to use it. This is just a fraction of what this library provides. I truly wish all libraries were like this. My only small gripe: When I applied for a library card, I was asked to show proof of address, even though it was listed on my driver’s license, I had to come back with a lease or utility bill. However, I’ve witnessed on two separate occasions that other guests were only asked for ID. I’m not sure if it was inconsistency, oversight, or something else. It didn’t ruin my experience, but I felt it was worth mentioning for the sake of fairness. UPDATE: DO NOT GO HERE FOR PASSPORTS!!! THEY ARE SLOW, THEY DO NOT KNOW ALL THE PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS, I HAD TO CALL THE PASSPORT GOV LINE JUST TO ASK QUESTIONS AND THEY STILL WERE IGNORANT TO IT ALL. IM PRETTY SURE MY DOCUMENTS WILL BE REJECTED!!! I AM ANNOYED I CALLED THEM AFTER LEAVING AND GOING ALL OVER THE CITY FOR A CERTAIN DOCUMENT. I PROMISE YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!!"

"I have been a paying patron (I live out of county) for over 20 years. HPL has so much to offer to patrons from little children to older adults. It is a staple in so many memories from when my daughter was just a toddler to now, and I find myself there every week. The service from the staff and services offered by the library are varied and outstanding, and it is a beautiful, clean, calming building with an enormous children's section, a cool teenager's section, and too much more to say. Just check out the website. In addition to checking out books, I participate in the free puzzle exchange, utilize Hoopla Digital for audiobooks, have been to concerts, etc. I just can't think of a single thing they could not be doing better. "Took 3 of our grandchildren to the Halloween Party tonight. They had a blast! We were so impressed with the amazing job the library staffers did preparing for and hosting this event. There were so many activities from which to choose. Our grands didn't want to leave! Hoover is so fortunate to have the people who staff this library."

"LOVE this library even more after a great experience with their Passport Office! Open weekdays 10am-3pm. Once you enter the Library go down the left hallway, turn left at the dead end, keep going left until you see the sign on the right. The staff was so friendly and helpful, answering all of my questions while applying for a passport. Grateful to have this location!!"
