What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"If you want a true southern cooking cafe, you have found the spot! These guys have a great line up of souther foods, from fried chicken to fried okra. They also have amazing desserts and their service is fantastic! They get busy for lunch, but the line moves pretty quickly! They do give a 5% discount for cash (meaning they uncharge for credit), but this is normal today as small businesses can’t afford to eat credit card fees. Just be aware that you can save if you pay with cash. There is plenty of seating, but also come early! If you get stuck by the train, you might be late to meet your party. The seating area is huge and so is their passion for southern food. Sorry health eaters, nothing here for you, but if you like down home southern cooking, it doesn’t get better!"
"Great southern cooking! Chicken livers are cooked just right and not dry. Turnip greens with their homemade vinegar are perfect and I love the stewed cabbages. Oh, forgot to mention the hush poppies are sweet and caking that ca be a dessert. Delicious! If you are in the neighborhood between Leeds and Birmingham, you should definitely give it a try for this lunch place."
"Fantastic food that is made with quality and love!! It is worth the wait!! Love that history written on the walls from the book, to Alabama historical figures, to the love that is all around!! Tons of food for the cost, every bit worth the money!! Took some friends for the first time and they fell in love with it!!!"
"I’ve gone here more times than I can count and my God y’all NEVER miss. The best food. Yes, the fried green tomatoes, they’re a fan favorite because they have so much flavor and they’re crispy and not soggy. I refuse to get them anywhere else other than here because I’ve been spoiled. Beef tips and rice. Delicious. PIES. Delicious. The staff is so nice and sweet and from their hiring signs it seems that they’re paid generously. The best meat and 3 place you’ll go to. And the kids love watching the trains."
"The food was more expensive than I'd like, so we won't frequent this place, but it was delicious! Plenty of variety, everything was yummy, and it was ready as soon as you ordered it, which is a life saver for families with you children who have little patience. We probably waited in line for 5-10 minutes and then, 5 minutes later, we were seated and eating. $15 per person is more than I'd like to pay for a meat, three sides, and a drink (I'd like to not pay for the drink and just have water, but it is included automatically) but, like I said, it was delicious and worth it."
"Five stars for the food, especially their fried green tomatoes! They have typical "southern comfort foods." If you want to feel like you're eating at..."
