"This shop is very clearly an institution. Go because it has good, yummy products. Just don’t wonder too hard about the last time the place had a thorough cleaning. We got creole peanuts (generously warm spice but nice) and macaroons (SO delicious). The woman behind the counter was friendly, and I’d gladly return to give her business and grab some more macaroons."

"I visited one of my favorite downtown locations yesterday. You really haven't been to downtown Mobile without a visit to Bienville's famous peanut shop. First of all, you will enjoy seeing the peanut roasting machine and trying the freshly roasted nuts. Then walk the candy aisle to see not only so many kinds of chocolates and peanuts but some vintage candy as well. Everytime I am here, just like yesterday, the staff has been pleasant and helpful."

"I went here because I wanted some movie popcorn. It's a tiny hole in the wall place, which I normally love. However, this place was disgusting. It was filthy. There were flies. The worker was not friendly. He did not greet me, smile or say anything above the absolute bare minimum. I did get the popcorn despite that and it was very good, but I would not have even taken a free sample of any of the candy that was displayed on cases."
