"I stopped in on a Saturday while I was in town visiting. It was very busy with students studying. I thought my Matcha was good, but I waited quite a bit for it to be made. I don't remember ever coming here as a student, but this was a nice stop before wandering around town."

"Monarch was a comfortable little coffee shop. The staff was friendly and speedy. I had the darkest chocolate mocha. It was quite tasty. My wife had the salted caramel latte which she said was yummy. I also had a paleo bar which was surprising because I thought it was gingerbread. Regardless, it was very good. My wife had a ham and cheese scone which she said was very good. I’m not a fan of concrete floor, brick wall rehabbed old building type of interior so I gave atmosphere 3 stars. It was clean with plenty of seating and there was plenty of free parking."

"Great employees, consistently good coffee! My favorite shop to work in, plenty of seating with tables and outlets, less of a lounge and more of a place to sit and, if you want to, get something done. They also offer a coffee club which is enticing! Edit - I docked the review a little.. there have been 4 or 5 times in the past year when their shop was closed when otherwise it was indicated online and on their door that they would be open... I totally understand things happen, but a sign on the door or something would be cool 😅"

"Monarch is great! The staff is super sweet and it is a great place to meet up and hang out, have a meeting, or get work done. All of their pastries/food are made in house and they put a lot of creativity into their specialty drinks. Definitely a Tuscaloosa gem!"

"Nice coffee shop who takes their espresso seriously. Spacious with individual seating, many with outlets near. Good place to hang out and get some work done while enjoying your brew. As for the coffee: Espresso can be quite good, but sometimes isn't. Lattes are often surprisingly bland. It's not just ratio, but an odd lack of flavor. I LOVE that they know better than to swamp their mocha with chocolate. I don't love the latte temps often come out 'molten lava'. This is a place you'll want to make your favorite coffee spot, but it probably won't be."
