What People Are Saying
from Google"When you walk you seat yourself. The setting is in what looks to be a home and its comfy. Service was good and the servers were helpful and kind. My family tried a little of everything and the food was delicious. The pancakes were fluffy with a crispy edge, the eggs were velvet and buttered, toast was fantastic and the ham was savory. The atmosphere was interesting. They had shelves with random mugs, Disney characters and antiques. Each time you looked, you find something different. Overall, I would return to this place!"
"Love Higdon Square Cafe! Quaint, homey, warm and inviting...step in to smell the coffee and you'll ask "where can I sit"? Food was tasty, cooked as you ordered and coffee cup filled when you need it! Close to Oaklawn so enjoy prior to the races (Dec-May) and go back as often as you can. This will be our go to breakfast place when we are on Hot Springs."
"This is a Down home southern cooking diner... I had chicken fried steak on my last visit. Only complaint is I think the food would benefit if they would add more spices to their recipes . The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful... The cook even came out of the kitchen and spoke to my group."
"I have a ton to say about this place, so buckle up! My group decided to have breakfast here on a Saturday morning, and let me tell you, it was an experience. Before I even get to the food, I have to talk about the place itself. It doesn’t feel like eating at a fancy restaurant. It’s more like visiting family you haven’t seen in ages and having a meal in the warm, cozy atmosphere of Grandma’s house. We even had the privilege of sharing the company of another guest and had conversations we will never forget. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the prices are super reasonable. The coffee is fresh and hot, and they even have an amazing selection of hot teas. Now, let’s talk about breakfast. I take breakfast seriously, because it’s the most important meal of the day, right? My wife ordered the French toast, and it was absolutely divine. The outside was crispy, the inside was soft and custardy, and it was just the right amount of powdered sugar on top. My friend got the pancakes, and they were soft, moist, and fluffy with a nice drizzle of maple syrup. The bacon was crispy and served hot, and the hash browns were perfectly seasoned and had a nice crunch. I ordered the all-meat omelet with hash browns, and let me tell you, I’ve had a lot of omelets, so I know when I’m impressed. The egg was like a perfectly cooked, moist wrapper for the filling of sausage, bacon, ham, and cheese. The filling was so juicy and evenly distributed throughout the omelette. The hash browns were perfectly seasoned and had a nice crunch, and the inside was soft and fluffy. It was one of the best, if not the best, breakfasts I’ve ever had. My only regret was I haven’t tried their biscuits and gravy… yet. We loved it so much that we went back the very next morning. We live almost two hours away, but I promise you, any time we come back to Hot Springs, Higdon Square Cafe will be on our must-visit list. I hope you’ll add it to yours too!"
"First time and it was good. Saw they were running a special and Chicken Fried Chicken sounded good. First impression is this is a small place. We had 8 and stood around for about 10 minutes. Drinks came out quickly but I gotta complain about the water. It tasted like old pipes and I only drink water. Reminded me of tap at the grandma's house in the 70's. The food came out hot and quicker than expected. We were willing to wait so that was a pleasant surprise. Overall, we thought the food was really good. Mac and cheese had a great flavor and cheese pull. Chicken coated well and seasoned. Biscuit was huge and mashed potatoes fine. We will return again and try breakfast. If you haven't been, stop and be ready for a good meal."
