"Love it! It is hard to find a delicious pastry cafe in Arizona. Came with the girls and ordered pastries and tea. Price is excellent for the quality of the food. Service was great. They are opening a restaurant next door in August so I’ll revisit again. If u want a quaint place to chill with authentic delicious food - this is the place. If u want something cheaper and processed you can go to Dennys."

"Talk about welcoming and attentive service. It’s as if we walked downstairs into our home kitchen. Hilda and Jose were so kind and generous especially caring for our little ones. The coffee was so good. The huevos rancheros were unique and delicious. Pastries were delectable. Not enough space here to give all the praise. We will be back time and time again! "I just don't know how this place gets high ratings. 4 time in the past I have stopped there to get coffee and I couldn't. Usually they tell me something wrong with the coffeemaker. Today, (01-30-2024) I went there to get a snack as I already had a thermos of coffee in my truck. A lady unlocked the door and told me they are closed (A little after 10 am but the hours said 8 am.) Now it is 5 out of 5 for not getting anything there. What gives with that place???"

"Great little cafe/diner/bakery! Have been a few times and the food is amazing, the owners are incredibly friendly and genuine, and the coffee is the best! Not a greasy spoon but a very quality, clean, quiet place to grab some delicious breakfast, have a cup of coffee or a pastry, and visit a little bit. They have a Saturday German food special that we haven’t tried yet but hear is amazing! We’ll be back to try it!!"

"We've been to Sgt Kernels many many times since it's opened and have gotten to know Hilda and Jose well. Visiting their cafe feels like visiting friends. They're always welcoming and the food is delicious. This is a small, cozy cafe. A place where you can relax and take your time. The staff is small but your patience will be rewarded with good food and great hospitality. What we love: The popcorn, the flaky pastries, rum cake and other desserts, their Caesar Salad and sandwiches, their authentic German Schnitzel, hot tea and coffee. We haven't tried everything yet but have enjoyed it all. My popcorn favorites are their Kettle Corn (lightly sweet, salty and crunchy), garlic parmesan and their white cheddar. Food favorites so far are their Caesar Salad and their Schnitzel (available on Saturdays). I'm currently obsessed with Hilda's pastries (croissants, chocolate croissants, danishes and so many others I don't know the names of but they're so good) and rum cake. I visit whenever I can for a bite of lunch or a cup of hot tea and something sweet. I almost always leave with a box full of goodies to enjoy later.
