What People Are Saying
from Google"We stopped in for lunch and tried the Reuben sandwich and the Patty Melt on rye—both were very good! The Reuben had tender corned beef and tangy sauerkraut, and the Patty Melt was hearty with crispy rye bread. The cozy diner feel really added to the experience, and the service was friendly. Great spot for comfort food in Big Bear—just shy of perfect, but definitely worth a visit."
"Visiting Big Bear Village for the day (Wednesday afternoon) and wanted to grab breakfast a little away from the main areas. I found this cafe on Yelp and wanted to try a local favorite. We were seated right away by a young man that was very nice - he even came to check on us a few times. Our waitress was okay, nice at the end but seemed to be a little down and impatient in the beginning. We ordered the fried egg sandwich with hash brown, and a French toast combo plate. The food was yummy - I loved the bacon - nice and crispy. The French toast wasn't very sweat, which is how I love it. Though it was a bit watered down, I enjoyed the coffee. Definitely recommend!"
"Cute diner for breakfast! Food was fine/good, classic breakfast food but loved the vibes of the place. The French vanilla cappuccino was really tasty."
"I went to the outdoor patio with my wife and our dog, the staff was very nice and kind, the service was 5 stars and the food too, we had the French toast combo n°1 and the Eggs Benedict with Canadian ham, the food was very nice I don't regret and we are definitely coming back for another good food. The French Vanilla Cappuccino is really good by the way."
"This place singlehandedly made me not want to eat anywhere in big bear. First of all, it says its a coffee shop- the only coffee they have is black cup of coffee or a 'cappuccino' from a pre made mix (which was delicious, and had whipped cream on it, the only good thing in this place... but also not enough to call yourself a coffee shop) We ordered: Kids 2 eggs bacon, hash brown- no complaints really just ok Eggs Benedict with home fries- the 'Hollandaise' had absolutely no flavor, it was like some weird $500 experimental LA hipster food, Im talking messes with your head because you know you put something in your mouth but don't taste anything. I dont know how that is possible with the two main ingredients being egg yolk and butter. Somehow the gravy was exactly the same. Eggs were well done, no runny yolk, and the 'home fries' were a mix of watery overdone potatoes and still crunchy potatoes, with crunchy uncooked onion. My husband ordered: bacon, eggs, and a half order of biscuits and gravy. Again, gravy had no flavor. The rest was fine.. but we noticed the Country Special on multiple boards throughout the restaurant said 'eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns and biscuits and gravy- $17.50' and thought it was funny he accidently ordered that without knowing. They didnt bring the waters we asked for, they were busy so no biggie. A lady was yelling the entire time next to us again not their fault but didnt make breakfast enjoyable. When we went to pay, it was $57. When we brought the ticket up I nicely said hey I noticed he accidently ordered the special- on the ticket it is put in separately ($9.50, $7.50, $7.50= $24.50) could you ring that as the special even though he didnt get hash browns, we dont care about that. She said she had to ask the boss, and a woman came out in a huff saying the bacon side he got had 4 pieces not 3, so they would charge us a dollar and change for that. I said of course no problem thank you. She made a big deal about having to re-add everything.. re-added it, and said the new total was $58. I laughed and said wait how is it more.. if we were charged $24 but the special is $17.50+ a dollar and change for the other bacon piece? She started berating me saying she has run a cafe for 5 years she knows what she is doing. I kept saying its fine just charge us whatever we just want to leave. She kept going on and on about the prices and 'yes it is fine, I know how to do math' I said cool can we pay and leave please. Finally she let us pay, we tipped the servers cash, and left. Never again, this place had horrible food and service from her, the teens serving seemed overwhelmed and undertrained and I felt bad for them especially having to work under someone like her. 0/5 stars if I could give it."
