What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Philz Coffwe is by far the best coffee chain. I'm thrilled they have a location not in Burbank (Brand can get crazy). I tried their Mission Cold Brew and Crookie (chocolate chip cookie-infused croissant). Their coffee is always great. The Crookie was buttery and flaky but would have probably been even better if I would have ordered it warmed."
"As a longtime fan of Philz Coffee since the early 2000s back in the Mission District, and having strictly sipped Philz during my Berkeley years, I was excited to see a location in Burbank. That said, my experience here was a bit underwhelming. The store interior was freezingly cold, so much so that it felt uncomfortable to hang out or enjoy my drink. When I ordered a hot green tea, the barista handed it over and tossed the lid toward me, not exactly the welcoming vibe I’m used to. Staff could definitely use more training, unless this is just how it goes in LA. Still love Philz, but this location didn’t quite live up to the legacy."
"Guys, we’ve got it!! We finally have a Philz in the Burbank area and it’s finally open!! 🥹 I’m so very pumped for this as there aren’t enough coffee shops near Riverside, but I know that some people are skeptical if this location will survive. I have high hopes for it and I hope that we can keep it with the support of the community. Per usual, I will make my review based on my visit which was on a Tuesday at 10:30AM. This location had a steady flow, but the fullness of the shop may change once word gets out that this Philz is now open, so please keep this in mind. My assessment of my visit will go over 5 things which are cleanliness, aesthetic, employee engagement, food/drink, and parking with an overall thought regarding if I would return to this place. Here we go!: - Aesthetic: Per usual, love the Philz aesthetic! The fall colors and the coffee murals are always so welcoming and the seating and tables give a cute modern touch. Can’t go wrong with it at all! It is set up as a work space so there is a wonderful bar seating in front of the windows and a lot of outdoor seating for work/friend catch up time. Seating availability is always important to me so the seat up hits the mark for me. - Cleanliness: This Philz is new as new can get so it is spotless! Can’t ask for anything more than a clean place to work. Restrooms are available with a code and are also clean for the using. This might change with time, but at the moment, this Philz location is great in terms of cleanliness. - Employee Engagement: Very lovely cashier, super personable! She also gave me her personal recommendation which I always appreciate from workers just in case you aren’t familiar with the menu or are looking to change things up (it was the Honey Haze for those that are curious)! Barista wanted to make sure that I liked my drink before leaving! I will say that my experience here has been the best experience out of all the Philz that I have been to in LA so far. A fan through and through! Philz on Sunset takes a close second to this one lol - Food/Drink: I didn’t get any food so I couldn’t tell you what the quality is, but know that I included photos of what they have available so check it out! I did however get the classic Mint Mojito and you can never go wrong with that! V refreshing and I love the fresh mint that they put on top of their drinks. It’s so cute and call me crazy, but I do actually think it adds extra flavor? But what do I know lol I’m just a lil ole coffee fiend. Also, a fan of the Iced Coffee Rose if you need a different recommendation. It doesn’t taste completely like rose, more floral, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. - Parking: I know everyone wants to know about this category, but I am here to affirm that parking is not super bad. There is available parking behind the Philz building that shares with FedEx so you may find something there, but also know that there is parking on the residential streets that don't need "residential permits” (thank the LORDT) and have 1-2 hour parking limitations. Parking is the one thing that might deter people from coming here, but I don’t think that should stop customers from supporting Philz. Don’t get me wrong, parking is essential for a business to thrive, but I don’t think it will be a problem here. Overall Thoughts: Always a fan of Philz and this location will be another good one! Can’t wait to visit it some more! Definitely giving this place a 10/10."
"Philz Coffee has its own rhythm and it’s not trying to imitate anyone else. This is the place that built its name on hand-crafted pour-overs, each cup brewed to order with care. There is no espresso machine here, and that’s part of what makes Philz special. Instead, you choose from a range of blends with names like Philtered Soul and Jacob’s Wonderbar, each roasted and ground specifically for their unique pour-over method. The result is a cup that’s rich, aromatic, and entirely personal. The staff is always friendly and genuinely seem to love guiding customers through the menu, helping you find your perfect blend or sweetness level. The Mint Mojito Iced Coffee is legendary and worth the trip alone. Their baked goods and light snacks are surprisingly good and make it easy to settle in for a bit. The space is bright, clean, and has an easy community feel to it, the kind of place where you might end up staying longer than planned. Philz delivers something that feels authentic and thoughtful every time. It’s not your typical coffee shop experience—it’s better. A well-deserved five stars for originality, quality, and service that makes you feel at home."
"Ugh. We groaned when we saw what was opening in this location around the corner from the us - the worst coffee chain in North America! One of our family lived near a Philz at college with no other choices, and they learned fast to make good coffee at home in order to avoid the Philz. When we visited, we quickly learned to shun it too. Trust me, there are better pour overs made with better beans in cooler settings just about anywhere in Los Angeles. If you want a slow, subpar, not hot cup of coffee in a sterile corporate setting that reeks of the private equity vehicle it is, Philz is your place."
"I was so excited to see Philz opened in Toluca Lake! Perfect addition to the neighborhood. There's a small parking lot out back and some street parking...."
