"I ordered a breakfast sandwich. I asked if the sandwich comes with a “spread,” the euphemism typically used for mayonnaise. The server confirmed the sandwich comes with mayonnaise; I asked that it not be included on the sandwich. The server said there are no substitutions, but he does not understand the meaning of the word substitution, which is very different from an omission. I wanted the mayonnaise omitted from the sandwich — a very easy thing to do. He refused. If you cannot omit mayonnaise from a sandwich, then you should not be in the food business, period. You need to do better."
