"Newbie to coffee. Recently bought a burr grinder and shower drip coffee maker so I can make a nice cup of joe for the fiancé. Tried SB beans and know zero about coffee but I do know that coffee shouldn’t taste that burnt and sour. Tried different grind levels and same or worse result. To make sure it wasn’t me, I stopped by the Solid warehouse. I met Nadia, who was super amazing and helpful. She explained coffee basics, gave recommendations, and even gave me a sample to try and compare to the SB stuff. Conclusion: it was for sure the over roasted SB beans as the Solid beans made one heck of a cup of coffee. Thank you Nadia! Highly recommend!"

"Solid Coffee Roasters has been my favorite roaster for several years. I have always enjoyed the beans I've purchased from the Artesia location, and I have given bags of beans to friends and family, and I have never hesitated to recommend their coffee to others. Unfortunately, things have changed. I dropped in to pick up a couple of bags of Valknut espresso beans on April 22nd. I asked for a recent date, and much to my surprise, I was presented with two bags with a roast date of April 2nd... 20 days old. When I asked the person serving me if there was a more recent date available, the polite response was that the date should be fine, beans need to degas, etc. Excuse me, but I've not yet to meet an espresso bean that needed to degas for 20 days! I asked if they had another bean they would recommend for espresso, and was pointed to one on a nearby shelf. Imagine my shock when I saw the bags there were dated March 22nd. The explanation I was given was that more beans would be roasted once the supply on the shelves had been reduced. Sorry, but that's rather like a grocery store explaining a policy of leaving bruised and wilted fruit and vegetables in the produce department until that supply is depleted before they will restock with fresh produce. Perhaps that philosophy works OK for the vendor's bottom line, but it doesn't work for this customer. Until such time as that policy changes, I will shop for my coffee elsewhere."
