"One of my favorite coffee shops to go to now is this Alchemist spot by the Cumulus complex on La Cienega. The coffee and matcha selection is fancy and on point, and surprisingly food is delicious, from the baked selections (the bread pudding!) and truffle powder dusted open faced sandwiches. I was here twice this week. Perfect for when I grocery shop at nearby Whole Foods."

"Could easily say it's my favorite Alchemist among the 3 now; beyond the gorgeous design, it's also a very practical space to work with plenty of seats occupied with power outlets! I could see lots of students would hangout here especially it resided in the apartment where I knew tons of students stayed. For non-residents, great news they did 2-hour parking validation. The barista was super kind. I came pretty late and stayed until almost closing time for something urgent to finish, and she politely reminded me but let me take my time (really appreciate you!). I went for their hot Caramel Latte with almond milk, which was delightful and I could swiftly finish in a blink. Balanced bitter and sweet notes with rich body!"

"Everyone sings Alchemist’s praises but I would describe it as an inoffensive matcha that wasn’t too einspannery. The matcha powder was neither grassy nor bitter so it was an overall pleasant drink but unmemorable compared to competitors. Seating at this Cumulus location is hit or miss but there are outlets and it’s close to the metro station (La Cienega / Jefferson)."

"I’ve been a regular customer at Alchemist Coffee Project since it opened, but today’s experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered a hot London Fog and pointed directly to the menu sign, which clearly lists the ingredients as earl grey tea, oat milk, simple syrup, cream top, and cinnamon, and shows the drink available hot and iced. When I received my drink, it was plain earl grey tea without milk. I returned to the store and explained the issue to the barista (Tina) who took my order. I was told that I didn’t specify oat milk. I pointed out that the menu explicitly lists oat milk as part of the drink. Tina then stated that the sign is “misleading” and that they do not make that drink with milk, and later said they only make that drink cold. This was confusing, as I’ve ordered the same drink from this location twice last week without issue. Despite this, Tina continued to insist that they don’t make the drink as listed, though they could “try” to make it. I asked to speak with a supervisor but was told they were unavailable at the moment. This entire interaction was especially disappointing given that I’ve previously observed the same employee speak to other friends and family in a condescending manner. I hope management addresses both the menu inconsistency (if it's true) and customer service concerns."

"Really if you’ve been to one Alchemist you’ve pretty much know the quality you’re going to get. It’s just the locations that change based on where they are. This one is probably one of the more sterile looking ones given it’s in this big box cookie cutter condo complex called the Cumulus where somehow a sandblasted siding along a portion of the building makes it cloudy. It’s impressive from afar but I’m not a fan of these cafes since pretty much all the residents live inside of them when they’re not in their apartments. So if you’re coming to sit in you might find it hard because most of the tech bros and tech sis take up all seating. You can park in the complex’s lot and get validated nearby."
