What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Overall ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) Environment ⭐☆☆☆☆ At first glance, the industrial-style interior looked promising. Unfortunately, the second floor was full of small flies everywhere. I ordered a chocolate cake but couldn’t eat it at all because of the flies. Hygiene was a serious issue. Service ⭐☆☆☆☆ The staff seemed very inexperienced. They didn’t correctly register my cake order, and my matcha drink was made incorrectly as well. Food ⭐☆☆☆☆ • Matcha Latte with Drip Coffee ⭐☆☆☆☆ No real matcha flavor and barely any coffee taste—overall very diluted and bland. • Strawberry Jelly Matcha Latte ⭐☆☆☆☆ The “strawberry” tasted like artificial jam with a very industrial flavor. The matcha was extremely weak and got completely lost. Will I come back? No. At the very least, hygiene needs to be addressed."
"Disappointing. The service was very chaotic. Be prepared to wait very long and getting food items one by one that are already cold. The 2nd floor seats are dirty and toilet doors are always open. When we were sit there, recognized that small flies around the foods so we had to eat quick and left. The food itself is okay, but nothing special. You can find many other brunch places somewhere similar to this with a way better experience. Overall everything is very very slow and unorganized."
"Don't sleep on this newish Arts District eatery. The drip coffee is really good - they had Papua new guinea last time I was there. The food is really good here, I only go when I have time to linger because it's hard to leave. The seats are comfortable and they play classical music all day. My favorite items to order here are the Lamb Moussaka, the terrine plates, the smoked trout, the sardines, lemon tart, passion fruit tart and the chocolate cookies."
"The venue somehow gave me that retro warehouse vibe. It's super aesthetic with rays of natural light. The menu somehow felt like featuring Japanese theme with obviously various coffee and tea based drinks. They did serve some brunch menu and several pastries including tarts. Having the matcha canele displayed next to the checkout made me unable to skip it. Other than prolly too much matcha powder on top of it making it kinda powdery, this petite pastry was little pleasure! Crunchy coating, gooey and chewy center, with great balance of sweetness and slight matcha bitterness. I got their iced Hojicha Latte, which got me pleased. The only downsides were it's tad grainy, besides I wish they had either almond or soy milk beyond just whole and oat milk. Beyond those two, it was impressive with solid roasted tea flavor."
"Very happy this place exists. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Got the fig tart which was impeccable, the pastry was bang on. The pork katsu was cooked to perfection, and sauce on it was a horseradishy kick which I was VERY into. Also had the egg salad Sando which was simply amazing. Cannot wait to come back!"
"Cafe 2001 is literally made of brick and mortar. Snag a seat upstairs and enjoy your coffee, sandwich, and pastry. After 4 pm, the spot becomes a wine bar...."
