What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"I work at the building across the street and go here for a cold brew, espresso tonic, or latte every morning. I also love their pumpkin scones and chocolate croissants. The owners are super friendly and sweet - it’s the people that makes me want to come back everyday for a conversation and enjoy my coffee and breakfast treat before work."
"I LOVE Lontra Coffee! My office is in the 33rd floor of the building and Lontra Coffee is one of the main reasons I stay in this building. Their staff and offerings are wonderful. I appreciate the love they pour into every cup of coffee they make. I also enjoy the breakfast sandwiches, especially when I don't have a chance to make breakfast at home. Thank you Lontra Coffee for creating a place in which I can experience a little peace and joy each day."
"Cozy, spacious and Bright coffee shop. Traditional options, menu and healthy choices ready to go too. Conveniently located across MOCA and BROAD museum."
"The atmosphere was the real selling point for me here. Super high ceilings, big windows, stylish decor, and comfortable seating. The coffee was also on point. Solid flavor and they did a good job with the milk pour on my latte. Nothing to complain about regarding the service. Also, the pastries looked really good even though I didn’t order one. Do keep in mind that they’re only open on weekdays until 3pm, so don’t plan on coming here in the evening or on the weekend."
"I’m not sure if it’s the workers or the overall management of this shop, but after two years of living and working in this area and frequently coming here, I’ve had a couple of experiences that I just can’t overlook. For the most part, the vibes are good. I’ve often come in to work on my laptop, send emails, and buy a drink and pastry like I always do. But the first incident completely threw me off. I had been sitting for maybe seven minutes sending a quick email, and the barista came over to tell me I couldn’t sit unless I bought something. I told him I was going to, I just wasn’t ready yet because I was in the middle of working. I had no idea this was even a rule, and considering how consistently I come in and always purchase something, it felt unnecessary and rude. I ended up leaving and honestly thought I was done with the place after that. Some time passed, and because I genuinely enjoy their matcha depending on who makes it, I decided to give the café another chance. The second visit was great. Different staff, great matcha, friendly energy. No issues. But the third visit is what pushed me to finally write this review. I understand baristas build relationships with regulars, and that’s fine, but when it’s early in the morning and people are trying to get to work, holding up the line with long conversations at the register isn’t ideal. Have the small talk while making the drink, not while everyone else is waiting. I ordered an iced matcha with light ice. She said sure. But when I watched her scoop the ice, the cup was still around 65 percent full of ice. I asked if she could take a little more out. Her response: “Yeah, but the drink is just going to be less full.” For NINE dollars??? And that is exactly the issue. In this economy, with people spending their hard-earned money, comments like that and practices like filling the cup mostly with ice are just unacceptable. I know a lot of customers tap their card, take whatever they are handed, and move on, but not everyone is willing to pay almost ten dollars for matcha-flavored ice water by the time they get to their desk. I really wanted to like this place consistently, but the hit-or-miss service and lack of consideration make it hard to recommend."
"Calm and tranquil ambiance. Friendly and hospitable baristas. Able to churn out three hours straight of novel writing here. Highly recommend a visit...."
