"I love cafes and was really excited to try this spot as I’ve walked past it many times. When I walked in, I was super impressed with the display of pastries and even told my boyfriend how I loved the presentation of drinks in their mugs when I walked by a few tables. We ordered two drinks and a pastry for dine-in. We sat at a table and waited for around 10 mins before our food and drinks arrived. I was pretty bummed when the server handed us our drinks in paper cups – after all, we were there for the dine-in experience and wanted to take cute pictures at a cute cafe. When I asked, why our lattes were in paper cups, the server simply responded that they had no clean mugs (also, the drink was not even hot when we got it). The other tables around us had their drinks in mugs and others who got their drinks after us also had mugs. I understand that there may have been no clean mugs at the time but we already waited for 10 mins and would’ve been okay with waiting another 5 for our drinks. When my boyfriend asked for a mug to pour our untouched latte into, one was brought out. Although it was appreciated, this was more of a hint that we would’ve liked like our latte to be remade because the paper cup was not the experience we wanted or were expecting. We ended up pouring the drink into the mug, but it just looked super sad for spending about $6 on it (first pic). To us, this was like going to a restaurant for dine-in and receiving our meal in a takeout container because no plates were available. In the end, we didn’t drink the latte and went across the street to Alexander Patisserie that has a similar price point for drinks and pastries. After our disappointing experience at Madison Alyzée, this cafe brightened our mood. The latte came out in a mug with really cute latte art; the pastry came out on a warmed plate and tasted delicious (second pic). This is all to say that, for many, dining in at a cafe is for the experience. I do believe this may have been a one-off experience at Madison Alyzée, so I probably will give it another a shot in the near future. That said, it was a pretty disappointing first time."

"Altogether nice spot. 3 different employees had no idea what is in the vendome breakfast. It’s listed on the menu with no ingredients. Someone from the back came out but could barely understand what I was saying nor could I understand her. I prefer this French cafe to the one across the road but I do wish their menu was more clear and the service was better."

"We got the regular and the hazelnut hot chocolate and both were amazing!! Hazelnut was bit more sweet than regular. The servers were sweet and greeted us with smile. Definitely coming back to try the desserts next."

"The best item is their baguette. Crispy outside and soft inside. This is a nice French bakery with delicious pastries and coffee."

"I’m writing this review with a heavy heart. As a regular customer, this café used to be my favorite spot for desserts and coffee as it truly stood out in the area. Unfortunately, something seems to have changed over the summer. Many of the desserts in the display case looked old, and the chocolate tart I ordered was clearly not fresh. The cake bottom was stale and you could actually see the stale oil and cracks around the edges of the slice. On top of that, our coffee was served in chipped cups, which is simply unacceptable for a high-end café like this. The outdoor tables were dirty and appeared to be neglected, and the place seemed noticeably understaffed. Overall, it was a disappointing experience today. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and works toward restoring the quality and service that once made this place so special."

"A strong contender for good croissants in the Peninsula, but still not quite as good as Arsicault. However, it works in a pinch if I don't want to make the..."
