What People Are Saying

"Vigilante is quickly becoming one of my favorite coffee shops in San Diego. The location is great (South Oceanside, about 10 mins from the pier). It's large & airy with tons of seating, and some outdoor seating as well. Great spot to hangout or even get some work done. Most importantly, I love their coffee! My go to orders are: Iced Latte with Oat Milk and/or a Cappuccino. Took some of friends here this past weekend & they loved it as well."

"Great place to chill and have coffee. The place is warehouse size so you get the ambiance of a brewery-even on a quiet day. Still, plenty of space, wide open layout it's nice to stop by here. First time I went they took 15minutes to get me one cup of coffee. It didn't make sense even with 4 people behind the counter but they made it up with a free coffee. It's a $5 cup by the way. The second time they took about a minute to make the same thing. The coffee was nice and strong and to the rim of the cup. Without looking at the prior experience this place is good."

"Very cool spot to get some work done. It is spacious and they have many outlets where you can charge your laptop. Their cappuccino and avo toast are delicious!"

"Love this place (Used to love it. Not anymore). It has a rugged industrial kind of feel and open space and very friendly staff. The coffees are great too. Lots of care is being put into making them taste good (not anymore). It’s very reminiscent of early 2000s Williamsburg, Brooklyn when I lived there, and my road trips in Portland and Seattle. It’s very Oceanside too. Very cool place. EDIT: Unfortunately I have to downgrade my review from 5 stars to 2 stars. Last two times I went were disappointing. I ordered a barista bagel and goat on toast. On sourdough. Like they used the end of the bread so the bread pieces were TINY this time, half the size of my previous orders. Very disappointing. Hardly any goat cheese and a few sad pieces of banana on the TINY bread. I also ordered the Matcha Latte and Chai Latte and they were not as tasty as previous times. There are too many different people working the coffee shop and not everyone takes pride in their job. The taste and inconsistency is very obvious."

"There’s something strange and comforting about walking into a coffee shop 2,700 miles from where you first found it — and realizing it hasn’t lost its soul. Vigilante Coffee, newly planted in Oceanside, California, feels both familiar and a little dreamlike, like you’ve wandered into a parallel version of a place you once knew in another life. The light is different — brighter, bluer — but the energy hums the same. It still smells like ambition and roasted beans, and the baristas still talk to you like it matters that you’re here. Inside, it’s laid-back but intentional. Sunlight filters through clean design. There’s no performative cool here — just quiet confidence, the kind that comes from knowing your coffee is excellent and your mission is honest. I ordered a house roast oatmilk latte, the way I always do. It arrived with no ceremony, just a beautiful pour and that telltale aroma — chocolate, a little citrus, something to anchor you in your day. Smooth, deep, unfussy. Not a trendy drink. A real one. The staff? As always, generous with their time and knowledge. They answered questions with ease but never condescension. They like coffee, and they like talking about it. It’s rare. You can feel the training — but more than that, you feel the culture. And just under the surface — still — is their ethos: ethical sourcing, hands-on relationships with growers, small-batch roasting that doesn’t scream for attention but somehow speaks clearly. That hasn’t changed. This place feels like a continuation, not a copy — like something was carried westward with care. It’s Vigilante with salt in the air and the beach just a block or two off. Less rust belt, more surf town. Still Vigilante. If you’re in Oceanside, go. If you’ve never been to the original, this is a perfect beginning. And if you have — well, you’ll recognize the feeling."
