"As a local, I was excited to finally give this place a try. Before going in, I had read several reviews mentioning the owner’s condescending and disrespectful demeanor. I prefer not to judge based on others’ experiences, so I decided to see for myself. Unfortunately, my experience reflected exactly what I had read. Due to a nut allergy, I asked which items would be safe. Instead of a helpful response, I was told—rudely and in a condescending tone—that nearly everything contained nuts or had cross-contamination risks. What made the encounter even more troubling was watching what appeared to be vanilla meringues being taken from a Trader Joe’s container and added directly into the display case. At the same time, another customer was questioning why a pastry cost more than it had previously—something I had also seen mentioned in earlier reviews regarding pricing inconsistencies. El Paseo is filled with incredible businesses that offer both quality products and genuine hospitality. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. Respect and professionalism matter—and in this case, both were sorely lacking."
