What People Are Saying

"his place is truly an experience. The decor, the flavors and the attention to detail is unmatched. You truly feel as if you stepped into a little café in Guatemala. The Customer Service was wonderful. The gentleman got my order 100% correct and had it ready when I arrived. They have gourmet coffee with latte art lots of vegetarian options, and their pastry case is incredible. They have true Parisian, croissants, pies, tarts, cookies, cake, cakes. Nothing needed seasoning. Attention was paid to every detail, and the only regret I have is that I didn’t order twice as much! The prices are very reasonable and it is conveniently located less than five minutes off the five freeway"

"A true hidden gem in Pico Rivera! You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here. I’ve been about 10 times now, and it still never disappoints. The food is an authentic taste of Guatemala — the chuchitos and the shuco chapín are must-tries. My father-in-law is from Guatemala and is usually very particular about his food, so I was pleasantly surprised when he not only loved everything… but even went back for seconds. That alone says a lot! The staff are an amazing group of people. They’ll sit and talk with you, make you feel at home, and their warm hospitality really adds to the experience. The upbeat cultural music playing in the background ties everything together and makes the atmosphere feel even more authentic. This place has officially become a regular spot for my family and me. Highly recommend!"

"My grandma and I decided to try this out today and were pleasantly surprised. The food, pastries, and coffee were all immaculate. We had the almond croissant, fruit tart, and the chuchitos. Almond croissant was good, fruit tart was flavorful through all parts (how many times I’ve had a fruit tart and it’s been flavorful in the middle but the pastry itself is plain and gross I don’t care to recount,) and the chuchitos were savory, masa was great texture and the meat inside as well. Mind you my grandma can make chuchitos by hand and these were almost as good as hers (don’t tell her that.) The coffee was amazing. The amount of times I’ve ordered a simple latte from places like Starbucks or coffee bean and had it burnt or just been subpar is crazy and this coffee easily beats it. Normally I’d have to drive quite a while to get something of this quality but I’ll be coming here for coffee regularly now. Give everything a try, we’re coming back 100% and if you’re not familiar with Mayan culture or food the staff are all very kind, efficient, and treat you so well."

"Drove over from Long Beach to support this coffee shop we saw online. Super cute and nicely decorated. Small coffee shop so parking is probably hard to find on the weekends, FYI. The coffee was good, I got the Mayan Latte which to me seems to be a Spanish latte. It was delicious and the Mayan mocha was yummy too. I would definitely come back and get drinks and pastries. Now onto the food… I am generally very nice but I do think that honesty is the best policy and as they are a new cafe I do think there is room for improvement. The tamale was very lumpy and the texture was confusing, we almost wondered if the masa was rice based? I come from a Guatemalan background and have been to Guatemala and the tamale was just confusing to me. The chuchito’s masa was also iffy and a bit too soft for me, so it just kinda felt like not a great representation of our food. The rellenito was the most beautifully presented one I’ve ever seen, and was delicious, but also teased us with barely any frijoles. Usually that is the star of the show, so although it was delicious, I do feel that the main ingredient wasn’t present enough. Anyways, I do love what they are doing and everything from the decor, presentation and coffee was great- but the food was disappointing. I think if the food improves or if this was just an off day, it’s definitely a solid coffee shop and worth a visit and support."
