What People Are Saying
from Google"Luv the historic flatiron style building. Drinks are good. Pasta and Pizza were just okay. After over 20 years came back to Francis Ford Coppolas restaurant in December of 2025 for a birthday celebration of someone very special. Great times! Nice memories to keep and good atmosphere."
"Beautiful café-restaurant located in a historic building that is worth reading about. The ambiance is classic and cozy, and the service was very friendly. The spaghetti meatballs were good, but they lacked salt and the depth of flavor I would have expected. Aside from that, I can recommend this place and would consider coming back."
"Went for an aperitivo, staff very nice and great cocktail makers. There’s a machine that prints short stories (you choose 1, 3 or 5 minute reading times) which is great to accompany your drink. Had the arancini di riso which were really tasty. Loved the Coppola artefacts dotted throughout - a must for any fan."
"The Café Zoetrope Italian Restaurant is right on the corner of Kearny and Whocares, its easy to find and parking is a snap! Now, ..think about this for just a second, there's about 3 Italian restaurants in SF for every 10 people, and that's a lot of Pastapazzoo! Well, I've had the pleasure of eating at about 150 of them, and let me just say this about Café Zoetrope...the Chicken Cacciatore is most likely the best I've had in SF...It was Amazing, and in every aspect worthy of 5 stars! ☆☆☆☆☆"
"Fabulous vibe in a beautiful building, and the food was outstanding. The braised lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and every bite exploded with flavor. The risotto was perfectly cooked and also full of flavor. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious, with big meatballs that weren't dry at all. Both the pizza (mushroom and Italian sausage with white sauce) and calzone were excellent. The service was attentive without being overbearing. There's also a free Short Story Generator that was fun. I saw another review that claimed they don't have "traditional Italian menu items, like chicken parm", and had to laugh. My dude - the menu is chock full of traditional Italian items (spaghetti alla puttanesca, penne all' arrabiata, linguine alle vongole, etc.) Chicken Parm is Italian-American (not that there's anything wrong with that...), not traditional Italian."
