"I've been to Komakase for their tasting before, which was fantastic. I was blown away by the incredible care and preparation for the coffee showcased, and the coffee itself was fantastic (I'm not even a coffee drinker and more of a tea person!) If you are interested in the tasting experience, be very quick to reserve as reservations run out extremely quickly. However, this review is for a separate walk-in, and not for their tasting experience. After attending their tasting experience, I discovered that Komakase have a small walk-in menu available which rotates very frequently. The menu is great, and feels like a smaller version of the tasting experience I had. Clear information on what you're tasting, the notes, and the presentation were all present. You do miss out on the wonderful company of Kieran and Josh though, but all other elements are in place. The coffee for the walk in was top notch, along with the pastries they were paired with. Komakase itself is in a small space with warm vibes and small fun touches probably showcasing quirks of the baristas (a couple of Yu-Gi-Oh cards on display, some toy cars). Maybe less than a dozen seats available in total if you are there which can fill up as people really take time to indulge. There's indoor and outdoor seating, both which are excellent. It's not your grab and go spot, and better suited something between a coffee date to catching up with a friend. I would worry about there maybe not being enough seats once I arrive, but if you do snag a spot, it's a wonderful experience."

"If you want to sit down and spend some serious time enjoying delicious specialty coffee and engaging in a dialogue with experts, you *NEED* to experience Komakase. Komakase should not be viewed merely as somewhere to get coffee, but as an entire specialty coffee experience. Obviously the brews are fantastic: Josh and Kieran do an excellent job of selecting the highest quality roasters and then curating a sequence of roasts to really open your eyes during your experience to how tasty, how diverse, and how intense specialty coffee can get. In addition to the top tier coffee, small batch pop-up style food pairings are also offered. This has been a delightful addition since the early days since it really elevates your time there: it goes from coffee-only to an entire culinary experience. Finally, and this is my particular part: you have direct access and an opportunity to ask specialty coffee experts any questions you may be wondering about the field: terroir, roasting, brewing at home, *GEAR*, how to make a good cup with x-y-z, recommendations for roasters or cafes local to you, etc. If you are curious about specialty coffee, or you’re already knee deep and wanting to dive even deeper, I highly encourage you to try Komakase: you’ll learn things you hadn’t thought about before and enjoy tasty coffee and treats."

"I had a wonderful time trying new coffee beans, learning about the farm and roaster, tasting incredible coffee and food pairings, and learning about how to improve my home brewing technique+setup. Staff was kind and very informative. The presentation and structure of the seating was lovely (just 6 people). The counter is long so if you are away from the pour over scales, you may not interact with the barista as much. The baristas that run the event are very accommodating and happy to find dietary alternatives — reach out in advance to help them source alternative food pairings."
