What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Impressed by the matcha drinks! So rich and flavorful even though I ordered non-sweetened. Not so much by the food. The desserts are too heavy for me. The place closes at 4pm. They had stopped allowing dine-in when we arrived at 3:30. There are a couple of tables outside for take-outs, but they collect them at 4."
"Stonemill Matcha is a gem of a lunch place in the Mission, with delicate Japanese entrees, often matcha themed. Their matchzuke with rice, steamed salmon and a match broth deserves a Michelin star! Their sparkling matcha with yuzu is also excellent as are the pastries. They are also very quick in their service."
"I highly enjoyed my iced matcha tea! Very balanced early flavors. The cafe environment was very calming and relaxing. I had a lovely morning just sipping on my drink and people watching. There’s plenty of seating and I could see this as a productive place to get work done or meet up with friends. Agreed with some other reviews that service could be better.. I JUST walked in and one of the male servers said “do you know what you want?” Like no? I just walked in! Will still be back next time to try the matcha latte and matcha pastries."
"I was so sad when Stonemill Matcha shut down during COVID, so it was such a great surprise to see it reopened now that I’m back in the Bay Area! It’s fall season, which means pumpkin spice everything 🎃 We ordered the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Hojicha Latte, the Halloween special Hojicha Pumpkin Pie, Matchazuke, Tamago Sando, and a classic Matcha Latte. Everything was really satisfying. The Tamago Sando tastes about as close to a Japanese konbini sandwich as you can get in the States (minus the price point). The matcha was just as good as I remembered. It does get pretty busy around noon, so it’s best to arrive a little earlier to beat the lunch rush. So happy Stonemill is back!"
"This was a favourite space of mine in San Francisco and this is first time visiting this place after their pivot to make it more of a dine-in destination. Food and drinks were impeccable, with some items like the Chicken Okayu and Japanese Curry hitting the spot. I had a delicious pumpkin spice hojicha which is an autumn special. Special vibes which is a mix of calm and liveliness. Gochisosama!"
"I was so excited to try this spot after seeing a tik tok about their strawberry matcha & they did NOT disappoint!!! My friend got a matcha latte and I of..."
