What People Are Saying

from Google & Yelp

"A nice quiet and chill place to be on a rainy day. The vibe was super nice got to hear some old classics. The barista was nice and he greeted and chatted with us while he made the coffee. I got a Gibraltar (5.50$) which was perfectly balanced. My partner got a latte(7$+1$ for extra shot). The barista recommended we get the latte with an extra shot and she really liked it as well. The place is chill and minimalistic but they can definitely put some effort to make this place a little more lively. Used to come to the old place every now and then and they had a lot going on which made the place feel vibrant."

"Gorgeous, crisp, clean store filled with sunlight from the enormous windows. Great logo. Loved seeing the menu before entering. And really appreciated the decaf iced coffee. Robust merch selection. Lots of pastry variety. Good place to chill and enjoy a great coffee!"

"Not gonna lie, this place missed the mark on pretty much everything. Coffee came out barely warm – like, I ordered a hot drip, not lukewarm drip, you know? The restroom situation was rough. Honestly couldn’t tell if I walked into a bathroom or a storage closet that someone gave up on. But real talk – the energy from the barista was the biggest letdown. Zero smiles, zero warmth, just straight up “here’s your coffee, please leave” vibes. I get that everyone has bad days, but my guy seemed genuinely miserable to be there. Made the whole experience feel super uncomfortable, like I was bothering him just by existing. The whole vibe felt weirdly dated – like stepping into some unfriendly café from a century ago, which is wild for SF in 2025. Look, I can see you’re trying to build something here, and I genuinely hope it works out. But the hospitality piece really needs some attention if you want people to come back. Wishing you guys the best!"

"I’ve been a fan of Coffee Llama in the past, but unfortunately, my recent experiences have been extremely disappointing. I need to address an ongoing issue that has made visiting this location increasingly unpleasant. For the last five nights, the benches outside have remained up, and the result has been nothing short of chaotic. There has been constant noise, yelling, and disturbances, with homeless individuals sitting on the benches all night, throwing bottles into the street, blasting loud music, and even using drugs. Previously, other local businesses, like Ritual, would put their benches up after hours, and this simple action prevented a lot of disruptive behavior. It’s baffling that Coffee Llama seems to have abandoned this practice, effectively inviting this kind of activity to take over the sidewalk. Leaving the benches down overnight isn’t just a minor oversight it has created a serious safety and quality-of-life problem for the neighborhood. I feel compelled to say that this situation is no longer something I can ignore. The noise and unsafe environment make it impossible to enjoy Coffee Llama as I used to. I am seriously considering filing a complaint with the city if this issue isn’t addressed. It’s disappointing because the coffee and service themselves have always been good, but the environment around the store now makes it hard to justify visiting. I strongly urge the management to start putting the benches up when closing, as this simple step would drastically improve the area’s safety and allow patrons to enjoy their coffee without concern. Until this change is made, I personally will not be returning to this location. It’s a shame because Coffee Llama could be a welcoming, comfortable spot, but right now the open benches are fostering unsafe and disruptive behavior that drives customers away. Come on, Coffee Llama please do what works and put those benches up at night."

"They took over the space from ritual and serve their coffee; but they stuck screen menus in there which look awful, and lost even more of the already lacking atmosphere. If it was a nice and pretty coffee shop to hang out at; all the neighbors would be there daily getting coffee. Instead, their foot traffic is pretty low and it’s kind of a sad space"

"This was my first time ever going into this coffee shop and before it used to be called "Ritual." I overheard some other customers talking and saying that..."
