What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Julienne in San Marino is truly a little gem. Every time I come here, I feel welcomed and taken care of. The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and genuine — you can really feel that they care. The food is always delicious and beautifully prepared, and the atmosphere is so cozy and charming that it feels like a home away from home. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or just coffee and dessert, Julienne is always a wonderful experience. Highly recommend! 🌿✨"
"This is an adorable little spot off the beaten path on a cute little tree lined street in San Marino. The cafe side serves coffee, tea and breakfast and lunch items and the other side is a small specialty market with premade sandwiches, salads and other goodies. My husband had the chilaquiles and really enjoyed them. I had a simple currant scone and a Vanilla Earl Gray Latte and they were both delicious. I was also able to buy a four pack of the scones from the market side to bring home. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially on the market side. I would definitely pop in again for a coffee and warm scone. The prices are a bit high but not out of line especially for the area. Street parking was available in front of the cafe and across the street."
"Rude service, mediocre food. Staff needs to be trained to greet and tend to guests. If giant coffee chains can do it successfully, so can a boutique operation in prestigious San Marino. Instead, what we got was unnecessarily pretentious attitude and nonexistent service. Learn to say hello and welcome to your guests, it will go a long way. Another thing, if a family asks for a napkin while seated don’t tell them they can get up and go find one inside. Just bring the napkin, it will justify your 20% tip. Let’s talk about the food. Bad. Just poorly executed. This isn’t French. It’s America’s French, from 2004. Classic case of a cafe relying solely on its location and coasting it. Terrible."
"Julienne is an opulent local cafe and pastry shop tucked in one of the prettiest neighborhoods in LA County. And one of the oldest cafe business in the area. This cute little cafe has small outdoor patio, with a French setting. Thus, a very popular breakfast spot for locals. They serve coffee, tea, pastries, salads and American-Mexican breakfast items. I have drove pass by this cafe for years on weekends but always find it too busy or have a long wait. So we decided to go on a weekday. We came on cool Monday morning; we grabbed a table first before placing an order at the counter inside. We had a coffee, croissant and berry waffles. All three taste good, just the way I liked it. Food presentation was beautiful. Staff were very affable and competent. Service was brilliantly spot on. Prices were higher than most cafe shop/restaurant. Overall, I enjoyed my breakfast. I'd recommend you try this French cafe."
"I came in hoping for a nice coffee and croissant, but the service was unbelievably poor. My croissant took 25 minutes — and it wasn’t even brought to my table until I complained. No apology, no acknowledgment of the delay, just a dismissive “that’s normal” from the staff. The coffee was equally disappointing — bitter, burnt, and not worth the price. The lack of basic courtesy from the employees really sealed the deal. Definitely not coming back."
"Slow Beginnings is exactly that, the warm, thoughtful start to something special. Steph and David bring care and craft to every cup. They made custom drinks..."
