"I live on the street near this place. The roasting operation puts out a constant hum of noise in addition to the beeping of trucks backing up and the smell of burnt marshmallows (not the yummy coffee smell I had hoped for). We have put up with it without complaint for years. Want to support local businesses and be a good neighbor. A few days ago I stopped in to ask whether they might be open to giving me their used coffee grounds for my garden compost and the girl working there was so rude. “No, we’re not going to do that.” The manager was a little nicer. She said they have space issues, and it is a small space, but they have two trash cans right there and space for one more. I offered to provide a bin for them to put right next to the trash cans to toss the grounds in and I would come by to pick up, but they wouldn’t even consider it. They did say that I could pick through their trash to pull out the coffee grounds! Maybe I will take them up on that. I feel like it’s not hard to make a small change for the environment, to not waste the nutrients and not contribute to climate change. So I am pretty disappointed with the company. The business is built on coffee beans grown in the earth, so putting the nutrients back into the soil just makes sense for sustainability."
