What People Are Saying
from Google"It's been a long long time since I've been to a Tommy's and decided to stop in on a Friday evening during a drive south to LA. This location is right off the 101 in Ventura and has a great drive through. Unfortunately the lack of an ordering screen and the loud road noise nearby, cause the chili dog I had ordered along with a double chili burger to translated as an order of chili fries. That issue aside the food was hot, well seasoned and just what I remembered in terms of heavy, rich, salty, savory chili piles on crisp fries and hot beef. Tommy's is truly indulgent and has been around for decades for a reason. The photos may not look appetizing, but it's some gooood stuff. Grab some extra napkins and try Tommy's if you've never been but check on your order carefully if there's any confusion during the order process. I'm sure I'll be back."
"I went through the driver thru new years eve at roughly 10ish. This was my first time coming here. The employee working the drive-thru was talking so fast I had to ask multiple times what was being said. She had zero patience. If I took more than 2 seconds to give an answer she said ok your not ready let me know when you are. That happened 2 times while in the middle of placing an order. I felt uncomfortable to order more items thinking the employee was going to tell I'm not ready if I needed a second to think. The interaction with the employee felt like she was in a hurry to be somewhere and annoyed I came through the drive thru as she was leaving. She talked so fast I thought she was going to start rapping my order back to me but instead she said nothing and turned her mic off. The whole encounter was so uncomfortable the best way to describe the service is aggressive. Lol I saw another comment talking about the same employee that same night. So it wasn't just me."
"I know this isn’t the original location, so I always keep that in mind when coming here. The food itself is usually always decent. The fries are always fresh and hot, and the meat is cooked well. The ongoing issue for me, unfortunately, has been the service. My husband and I stopped by on New Year’s Eve around 10 PM. They were open until midnight, and there was no one else in the drivethrough at the time. The woman who took our order seemed rushed and came off as rude. After every item I ordered, she cut in with “anything else?” even though no one was behind us. I was also told they didn’t have root beer floats, and the way it was said felt more dismissive than helpful. When we pulled up to the window, there was no greeting or interaction at all. The food was basically handed to us, and the whole exchange just felt uncomfortable. This wasn’t a one-off experience either and I’ve noticed the same kind of service on previous visits. I understand that working holidays isn’t always a choice, and I try to be understanding of that. Still, when the place isn’t busy, better customer service would make a big difference. I enjoy the food and want to keep coming back, but the service has been a consistent letdown."
"I'm sorry but this was the worst culinary experience of the 2020s for me so far. I got their Caliente burger. My tongue touched the "chili" hanging off the side and I almost ralphed right then and there. It looked and tasted like it had been plucked from a clarifier pond. Absolutely disgusting and I will never go back. I have no idea how this company is in business. I did not see a single other customer while I was there. Staff was fine, although it took almost 5 minutes to get my food in the drive through (again, I was the only one there). I do not recommend."
"Once in awhile this hits the spot! Being a Southern Californian you have to have Tommy's! Luckily we don't have to go to LA anymore for it!"
