Even when it’s packed (which it often is), there’s this easy, quiet intimacy to the place that makes it feel like a neighborhood retreat. Parking’s a bit of a test—tiny lot in the back, but I’ve never waited more than a few minutes to score a spot. Totally worth it. The food is very good—bright, fresh, and well-considered without trying too hard. It’s the kind of menu where you find your go-to and then spend the next three visits trying to top it. And the coffee? Excellent. Strong, smooth, and clearly made by people who care about what they’re doing. Service is brisk but friendly, and the vibe is modern Aussie café with a touch of L.A. cool—think clean design, stylish crowd, and low-key chatter under the trees. It’s rare to find a place this well-loved that still feels unhurried. Strings of Life pulls it off."

"I've been coming here for the past two weeks while on holiday and i can't praise this place enough ! The food, coffee and service are on point! I often see the owner mingling with his guests and love how he knows most of them on a first name basis... including their dogs ! If you want a spot to chill, work and get away from the LA noise....stop by, you wont be disappointed! And did i mention the coffee.....FABULOUS"

"Somewhat hidden cafe with peaceful outdoor dining. Came here for a late lunch with some friends but they still served the breakfast menu at 2pm on a Saturday. You order at the counter and receive a number for the waitress to bring out your food. Even though it was in between normal meal times, the wait was pretty long - it took about 30 minutes to get our food. I opted for the veggie burrito bowl and it was extremely filling. There was a good amount of avocado and the sweet potato had a nice flavor. Fries were thin and crispy. Credit cards accepted. Metered street parking. The entrance is down an alley but there is signage at the opening."

"i love this place! we’re visiting LA and were hoping to grab some food and coffee near melrose ave and all the cafes were SO busy until we stumbled across SOL we ordered the vegetarian burrito bowl and bacon & cheese croissant and they were both amazing my iced americano was also delicious the store is so cute and not busy and spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating the baristas and music were also amazing would 10/10 recommend"
