What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"I am a regular here and this place is truly special 🍩 The owner and the entire staff are consistently warm welcoming and all smiles which makes every visit a pleasure. Everything is always fresh and absolutely delicious. The donuts are fluffy decadent and honestly to die for easily the best donuts I have ever had! My kids look forward to coming here every weekend and it has become a favorite family tradition. There is such a genuine kindness and warmth in this shop that you feel the moment you walk in. I cannot recommend it highly enough."
"Amazing! Donut perfection. Visited for specialties this Fall and got Pumpkin Chai, London Fog, Maple Ginger, and Caramel Apple (in order of faves). Each amazing in their own right. The most astonishing part is how light and fluffy they are. Never had a donut so fresh tasting and light. Flavors are phenomenal. Shop is very cool inside. The gent behind the counter was super cool, personable, friendly, and helpful. Excellent first impression. Went early morning on a Saturday and was pretty quiet inside. And guessing this is the original. Went to Brewster loc the other day which is a great shop too, but didn’t have the full selection that Danbury does. Highly highly recommend. Do not miss this experience."
"Walked in for a pickup order on Sunday around 11:30 and had one of the strangest customer service experiences I’ve had in Danbury. I told the blonde worker at the front that I was here for a pickup and she immediately stopped taking orders and started cleaning cups and machines instead of even acknowledging me. I thought maybe she didn’t hear me until her male coworker stepped in, asked for the name, and pointed me to a random box sitting off to the side with no signs and no pickup area. The whole interaction felt awkward and unprofessional. The line was a little long, so I get that it was busy, but basic acknowledgment is not complicated. This is exactly why I usually save my money and make lattes at home or drive to Norwalk or Stamford when I want good coffee or an actual sweet treat. Danbury spots rely on college kids with weak customer service and it shows every time. The donuts are also just okay. More like dense cake than a real donut. Brooklyn Bakery in Waterbury is on a completely different level. The maple bacon here was decent, but not worth dealing with this kind of service for a mid product. Honestly, if Brooklyn Bakery ever opened in Danbury, this place is cooked."
"Staff here were so kind and friendly! The donut flavors were varied and included several fun specials. If you can’t decide (and somehow resist buying them all) there were special mini donuts at 6 for $10–fried ice cream, a Jaws homage, Swedish Fish, and sprinkles. I may have made a few boxes of purchases… The drink menu also had so many delicious and unique options (like Coconut Cream Pie lattes and Strawberry Rose cold brew) that I was tempted to get more than one, and did go back to the counter later for The Bacon and Tomato Melt—a decadent breakfast sandwich on a donut. I ordered my sandwich for my long drive home, and it was such a luxury that I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Very welcoming decor with a marble bar, loved the sugary decor and the punk pop playlist playing—a perfect stop if you want a treat after seeing Superman and want to live in “kindness is the new punk rock” a little longer after leaving the theater. Thanks for all the sweetness, Grounds!"
"The donuts were phenomenal. Worth the spend. Fresh and flavorful!"
"I had heard great things about Grounds and finally stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. What a treat. I'm a coffee snob and am pretty dismissive..."
