"I never post reviews but I was so shocked that I was asked to put away my laptop in a coffee shop that I came online to read reviews… on my phone. Some reviews mentioned that if the cafe is not at full capacity, the staff would not enforce a laptop limitation. But here is the seating area today and I was told laptops weren’t allowed at all. There’s also no WIFI and the espresso tastes terrible (bitter and acidic). But I was still willing to sit and enjoy the atmosphere while finishing the food I had ordered. But then to have a staff member come up to me when I’m sitting here quietly minding my own business to tell me laptops aren’t allowed… it’s like they’re asking me to leave. Message received."

"Walked into this café, completely empty, ordered and paid, sat down… and then got told laptops aren’t allowed. If the place were crowded and they wanted to keep tables moving, fine; that’s understandable. But the café was basically vacant. No signs anywhere saying “no laptops,” no warning before ordering. Only after you’ve paid and settled in do they decide to mention it. That’s just bad communication and worse customer service. Be upfront about your rules before people spend money. Otherwise it just feels like a bait-and-switch. Won’t be coming back."

"Empty tables, ordered breakfast and coffee and tried to look at something on my computer and was told it was not allowed. I wasn’t trying to use their Wi-Fi. $25 in food and I can’t sit quietly on my own for 20 minutes. I can understand if there are people waiting for tables and they don’t want people staying all day. But that isn’t what happened. More tables empty than full. They apparently prefer people talking loudly on their phone. Then quietly typing. Not worth the price."

"I'm there practically every morning and sometimes for lunch or an afternoon tea. I enjoy the atmosphere, in particular the way they foster a more social-oriented environment as opposed to one where people sit hunched over a laptop or, worse, conduct conference calls or interviews while the rest of us just want to sit with a cup of coffee and the newspaper or a friend. (Speaking of friends, I met two of my best friends at a CFCF - one at Riverside, another on Grigg Street) The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The place is kept clean and uncluttered. Vacated tables are wiped off almost immediately. For the most part, customers clear off their own tables, but even when they don't, it isn't long at all before a member of the staff comes by to remove cups and plates. There is music, but I would say that it is unobtrusive. Certainly not loud, but not so quiet that I haven't noticed a particularly good song that I had to look up. I have a light breakfast: coffee (medium roast) and either a croissant or a pastry (the apple turnovers are my favourite); my lunch time favourite is an egg salad sandwich on sourdough; when I'm there in the afternoons I enjoy a pot (yes, a pot) of earl grey tea and a madeleine cookie."

"Food was great but probably won’t revisit, service was horrible. Had coffee, Ricotta Pancake, Avo Toast, Bacon+Egg+Cheese (bread was not brioche roll🤷🏻‍♀️) and another sandwich. No fault in the food! Especially the fruits on the pancake, they were really fresh. But, lady server in spectacles was rude and impatient while taking our order and missed out one of our dishes too."
