"Café Saint-Ex is located on the bustling and popular 14th St corridor close to U St and has been a neighborhood staple since the early 2000s. On the ground level, there are classy indoor and outdoor dining options, and below ground, you’ll find a bar and event/dance space. I’ve been here on multiple occasions on different days of the weeks and times of day. Depending on when you go, you will get a completely different atmosphere and customer base. Weeknight dining and weekend brunching, you’ll find a classier crowd and contemporary dining experience. If you go late night-drinking on the weekends, you’ll most likely find yourself packed into the basement dancing, sweating, and fighting to get a spot at the bar to grab a drink. They also host free comedy shows on certain weekday nights featuring local amateur comedians (hit or miss). They have a good-sized happy hour menu with lots of different food and drink options. In general, the food and drinks are pretty good, but it can get pricey pretty quickly. The dining experiences and food I’ve had here lately hasn’t been as good as it used to be. However, the staff members continue to be polite, attentive, and professional."

"This is a great spot. Came here to see a friend DJ last night and we had the booth by the back. Shoutout the security guy, he was cool and even helped flag down the waiter for water. Big ups. This place turns up better than most on 14th"

"This place is horrific! I bought a jerk chicken sandwich and truffle fries at 2:19am to a very short line and had to demand where my otder was into 49 minutes waiting time! The attendant was extremely rude and apathetic to my concern. She offered me a bottle of water for the 45 minutes plus time that it took me to get my order. Then she was extremely disrespectful when inquired on the reasoning behind why my simple order was taking so long to fulfill. I will never patronize this disrespectful establishment again!! And the truffle fries are truffle trash"

"Bartender was a bit indifferent because I asked for dining instead of an overpriced cocktail. The hamburger was ok - meat cooked well, bun terrible and heavily processed. Zero table service or requests for another drink, more water, etc. Lived this place 5 years ago but now it’s just a flailing dive."

"We stopped by @cafesaintex for dinner and a few drinks with the ladies. What a time! Great music, good vibes, and shout out to our friends the security guards. - Chinito's Wings w/ truffle fries - Jerked Chicken Wings w/ Mac n' Cheese - Veggie burger w/ truffle fries Follow us on IG to see more food pics: @BrwndButter"
