"The look and overall vibe at this restaurant was really nice and aesthetically pleasing, but it’s unfortunately the only thing going for it as the food is below average and borderline abysmal. Between my boyfriend and I, we had the mushroom arancini, “bruschetta”, [heavily] charred octopus and salmon with *crispy* mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. To start, the Arancini was pretty good, but overpriced and could use a bit more sauce, however, the bruschetta pitiful and lacking flavor. The biggest disappointment came with our entrees as I ordered the salmon which was dry and looked like they had a hard time scraping it off the plancha, sat a top a fried unseasoned mashed potato patty with sprouts on the side that were either steamed or roasted on a very crowded pan and was just utterly disappointing as it tasted like nothing. The entire meal tasted like sadness, and when spending 140$ on a meal I’d like it to not feel like a chore to finish. This could be a decent place to get drunk but if you’re a person who genuinely enjoys food, my guess is that you would not enjoy theirs."

"Great spot with amazing bartenders and service! We only went for a drink but the whole place was warm and inviting! We even got a free dish the chef was trying out! Would love to come back to try their food menu."

"Amazing experience and atmosphere. The food was delicious.... I almost licked my plate. The cocktails were beautiful and tasty. I will definitely be back! Our server, Alicia, was absolutely the best! Attentive, informative, and friendly."

"I believe guests should give some restos grace while they go through a learning curve. For me Cynthia’s is that place. Great location on the H Street corridor with lovely cozy atmosphere and seating. Went for brunch and the resto was buzzing with families, friends, and married folks like us. Our servers were friendly and attentive which we always love. I do believe Cynthia’s will figure out that they need more heating especially up front where people come in and out. I believe they’ll figure out that their waffles need to be more substantial in order to complement their fried chicken and the fried chicken can be crispy on the outside but nice and tender on the inside. And I do believe they’ll figure out that offering at least one herbal tea on their drink menu is a good idea. That said, I’ll be back to support this local eatery because I believe Cynthia’s is going to get better and better with time."

"Some friends rented out the bistro for their wedding party and it was the perfect space. The party was so intimate and perfect for the celebration. The food and drinks were fantastic, I’m still dreaming about the sliders that were served. I can’t wait to come back to town and try the restaurant on a regular night. The owner was fantastic as well. Highly recommend Cynthia’s!!"
