What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Ordered takeout from Teaism after enjoying a great lunch there recently, and it didn’t disappoint. I went with the broccoli tots, which is always a dependable favorite with that seasoned ranch. I decided to try something new: the Korean Beef sandwich. Flavorful, a little messy, and the Thai basil added a bright, unexpected touch. I also ordered the butterfly pea yuzu lemonade, which was delicious and stunning. When butterfly pea flower hits citrus, it shifts from blue to a gorgeous purple-pink, and this drink delivered that moment perfectly. The only downside was the missing napkins and utensils, even though I requested them in the notes. My colleague ordered broccoli tots and a lentil soup she enjoyed (a bit spicy!), but her order arrived without a spoon. Even with the hiccup, Teaism remains one of my go-to spots when I’m craving Asian-inspired comfort food."
"My partner and I happened to stumble upon Teaism while we were visiting DC, and we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the quality of the food and tea. We were recommended the hojicha green tea by the staff member who saw we were struggling to make a decision, and it smelled amazing and was not overwhelming or too light. Perfect way to warm up after walking around DC in cold weather! The food was spectacular. I got the Thai chicken curry, and my partner got the udon dish with shrimp. The curry was the most delicious dish I have had in a very long time. It was very fragrant, and the flavors were so rich. I loved the balance of protein and veggies. My partner really enjoyed the udon as well. The soup was tasty without being overwhelming. I personally thought it was a little light in flavor, but it was still yummy! We definitely recommend and will be back!"
"Great service and good food as always. I tried the Korean bbq sandwich this time. The bread veggies and sauce were perfect. The issue was the beef. It was very dry and there was barely any of it. They bunched it up in the middle and it was not across the sandwich. I won’t order this again but I will order other foods. My friend had the French toast and loved it."
"I periodically stop in to buy looseleaf tea from Teaism’s Tea Shop, and thought I’d try their restaurant and have tea for a change. It is my first time stopping in their restaurant, and thought it would be nice to have breakfast with my Wuyi Tea — an oolong tea. They’re just opening for the day — I’m the only one here — so I opted to dine-in. I decided to have the Coriander Scrambled Eggs with Tea Cured Salmon. I was greeted at the counter and placed my order. The food is cooked so your wait time is like that of a casual diner, which is a notch up from fast-food prep. I opted to dine-in and went to sit down. This was my first time eating here, so I did not know they do not bring the food to your table — the counter person does not tell you the process. You just figure it out when you hear a number called, you happen to look at your receipt, and you look around to see your tray of food sitting on the counter. When they call your number you get your food from the pick-up counter, you also have to get your silverware (it’s not on the tray), and you go back to your seat to eat. Sorry to say they leave you to figure this process out, and you trust no one will walk away with your belongings. Know that it can be hard to hear the person call your number with their music playing in the background and/or if you happen to be wearing earbuds listening to your own program. Now the food. The Coriander Scrambled Eggs were good but cooked in too much butter; the tea cured salmon was good; and the “bread” appeared to be sliced roti. Overall, a good portioned meal for the price and prep. Just in the span of the 30 minutes or so my eating, the foot traffic picked up and it became livelier — seemingly a popular place. By the way, I headed next door to their Tea Shop to buy more Wuyi Tea and a few other items to take home. What a terrific way to kick-start the day."
"This tea shop located very close to the Archive-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter metro station and the National Mall. They have a great selection of teas at an affordable price. Plus, they also service food. Would recommend trying it out if you're ever in the area."
"Got drinks at multiple locations. Consistent, delicious, high quality. Aesthetic building, love it there. Service was decent. Food: I only got drinks, but..."
