What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"I hadn’t been here for a while because it is a bit on the pricey side, but I was really not doing myself any favors because the food and coffee is absolutely phenomenal. It was a gloomy, rainy day and I was craving comfort food, and their grilled cheese and tomato soup absolutely hit the spot. The place does get very crowded, but I was still able to find a seat, and as the lunch rush slowed was even able to move to a spot by the window with an outlet. It’s a really great spot to treat yourself to a new book from upstairs (or bring one you’re working on!) and enjoy being around people while you have a coffee and read, and you’ll see a lot of that there. It’s also a great place to sit and work. There is parking out back, but it’s a bit tight. If you’re not going during weekday rush hour you can park at meters on Connecticut as well."
"Highly recommend this spot for enjoying some good food and a cafe drink. The atmosphere is very cozy. However, I will admit that I've been many times and it is always very crowded and a bit loud, so keep that in mind if you are going there to study/work. But even so, it's such a great spot and the bookstore upstairs is a huge bonus!"
"DO NOT GO TO THE DEN AND GET THE AVOCADO TOAST IT IS A SCAM. I spent 14 of my hard earned dollars before tax and tip on the avocado toast (and a poached egg) and it came with one measly peace of small sourdough bread. The bread was not even toasted well as it was mushy on the bottom. I ordered avacado toast not avacado bread! The avocado spread was very obviously not fresh and came out of some little plastic container. The meal was also advertised with cucumbers and this was not included in the meal. If you say something on the menu it better be there. Here is the kicker. THEY GAVE ME A SINGLE TINY PEICE OF PICKLED ONION. look at the picture right now I beg you. I am fuming thinking about this pickled onion to bread ratio right now. Jesus Christ holy guacamole I am so angry. I don't know about the rest of the menu maybe u should go maybe don't but don't get this bread. Do you know when you get a loaf of sourdough bread and the middle pieces are double the size of the end pieces. They gave me the tiny piece and then had the full audacity to add that little tiny pickled onion like that would do anything for my taste buds. Also the lettuce to bread ratio is atrocious. They are clearly trying to compensate for the fact that the bread is so tiny just like how a man with a small you know what compensates with a yellow corvette. I JUST GOT FLEEEEEECED I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW. 1 star rating 1 star rating 1 star rating at least give me 2 pieces of bread i am now hungry and i ate like 5 min ago. To clarify maybe this place has other good stuff but if i ever see someone eating that avocado toast i will give them 15 dollars to give them their well deserved money back and an extra 3 dollars for their time and anguish. I am also attaching a picture of myself so the owners know exactly who wrote this review"
"This is a cool spot for breakfast, located under a bookstore I think this is one of the more unique coffee shops in the area. I had a great London fog here as well as a good breakfast croissant. The seating is a little limited and it gets packed but If you're doing take out the wait isn't very long."
"I love this cafe so much! The perfect place to read the book you just bought, or write an essay for a class, listen to live music, or chat with others around you. The staff is so friendly and the food is always delicious. I especially like trying their special coffee drinks that change every month and the vegetarian quiche."
"Cute place in the basement of the book store! Very cozy with a lot of energy. Great selection of coffee and tea!"
