What People Are Saying

"I’ve been coming for Burma a couple years and have nothing but great things to say. From the -Cleanliness of the facility- routine in-depth cleaning I’ve seen first hand every night from the bathroom to the floors. -Personable and attentive staff that are always welcoming. Special shoutout to Laynee, Oleg, Tiffany, and Gigi -Multiple different activities to do from a extremely well maintained pool table, chess, board games, and studying areas -Warm and welcoming ambiance, atmosphere, and guests -Affordable and strong drinks. I’ve spent 4-5 times the amount at other big name bars and left feeling nothing. Whether you need a place to study mid day, place to go late at night to hangout with friends and catch up, place to go to meet new people in a friendly and laid back environment, or just somewhere to grab an affordable and high-quality drink, Burma is your answer."

"Burma Kava Bar is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, cozy, and genuinely welcoming environment that immediately puts you at ease. The space has a great laid-back vibe that makes it easy to relax, unwind, and stay awhile—whether you’re coming in solo or meeting up with friends. The drinks are top-notch and definitely on the strong side, which is a huge plus. They offer a great variety, and everything is crafted with care and consistency. The kava tenders truly make the experience stand out—everyone is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to answer questions or recommend something based on your taste. On top of all that, they have fantastic happy hour specials that make it even more tempting to stop by regularly. Great drinks, great deals, and even better people. Burma Kava Bar has quickly become one of my favorite places to unwind, and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already."

"My friends and I have been long-term customers and have enjoyed this business for years. Unfortunately, our experiences have changed a lot over the last several months, especially in the past couple of months. Whether others notice it or not, it’s felt very clear to us that a certain kavatender doesn’t seem to treat us the same as other customers, and it’s created an uncomfortable environment for me and the people I’m with. There have been multiple times where we’ve waited a long time without being acknowledged or served while others around us were helped immediately. We’ve also had moments where we felt unwelcome or ignored based on the way we were addressed, or not addressed, by specific staff members. We’ve even heard from people we trust that certain staff have spoken negatively about us when we’re not around, which has been really upsetting. These concerns have been brought to leadership more than once, but from our perspective, nothing has changed. What’s been especially discouraging is the gap between what ownership has told us and what actually happens when we visit. Even after being reassured directly that we are welcome, we still experienced situations where service was avoided or withheld. After months of this, it’s hard not to feel like the environment just isn’t as professional or inclusive as it used to be. Everything here is based on our firsthand experiences. I also want to respond to the reviewer who called our feedback “fake.” Our experiences are real, they happened to us, and they’re not driven by any personal grudge. We don’t want conflict with anyone, we just expect to be treated with the same courtesy and professionalism as other guests. We’re sharing this because it reflects a pattern we’ve experienced over repeated visits and after multiple conversations with the owners. I’d also like to highlight that since posting our review, we were informed that we’re no longer allowed to enter the establishment. It was disappointing and honestly very eye-opening after years of being regular customers."

"Stopped at Burma Kava Bar today and wanted to leave a quick review. The atmosphere was relaxed and chill, and my kava tender, Laney, was outstanding. She was incredibly personable, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the different kava and botanical options. Laney took the time to answer my questions and made thoughtful recommendations, which elevated my visit. Her warm, genuine energy made the experience feel easy and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back - highly recommend stropping in."

"I've been a regular here for years now. Don't take that as bias, but I always update my reviews to ensure that they reflect the current quality of the location. This is going to be an in-depth review, so ask a kavatender for some snacks and sit tight. Burma Kava Company continues to offer an outstanding, calculated and laid-back atmosphere that gracefully outclasses the surrounding kava bars here in southwest Florida. I barhop between almost all of the ones in Fort Myers and Bonita Springs. I've often heard in my discussions that these places don't really exist outside of Florida. Kava bars have popped up in the US in the past 20 years, and they're here for you to carry out social flings, catch up on homework, conduct business meetings... basically anything a coffee shop can do, but in a more mature, historical, and homey setting. Kava bars almost always have their own dedicated communities of regulars, but there's nothing stopping you from coming in to see it for yourself, by yourself. You can think of Burma as a tropical tea house with a lot more regulars and a lot tastier drinks... Oh, the drinks! Burma's flagship cocktails recipes ought to be patented. My favourite (by far) is the Temple Fog Tea. These take the tea-like undertones of the house-brewed kratom and pairs it with the tanginess of various tropical fruits. It's so satisfying. This has been available ever since the store opened. There's tons of other cocktails to choose from that you might get choice paralysis. But if you're feeling tired of the tropical fruit aesthetic, there's also normal tea, coffee, and Kava Creams, which are dairy drinks infused with kava/kratom with rich flavours. Nothing like it exists elsewhere in the area, which is insane due to how simple they are in concept. There's also some seasonal items that are sometimes posted on the company's social media. It's the little things that add up -- Burma is: - always clean - reasonably calm (you can always hear people speak during the day and usually during the night) - consistent. The service ethics, the drink recipes, and the availability are predictable and reliable. I've started coming in to do personal work, socialising, or to participate in its weekly themed events. I can attest to this location's commitment to reliability. The owners tend to hire from within its pool of regulars, so the constituents of the company are people who genuinely care about Burma and its environment. To be frank, this company tends to only hire female staff. Whether this is a red flag or pure stylistic choice is up to you. Tiffany was been brought on for a bit over half of a year. she's a shining example who jolts energy into the barside. Some have been a part of Burma's story for years, like Madison and Amber. Some are newer, like Laney, I've noticed to be entirely selfless in her conduct behind the bar, and Elayn, whose genuinity can be noticed within the first 20 seconds of any interaction with her. Really, it's rare to have a place where you don't have to question if the employees are being genuine. Everyone wants to make sure you're taken care of. For better or worse, there are religious undertones throughout this location, but they luckily seem to be handled by well-rounded and open-minded individuals who are trying in earnest to be as well-intentioned and the best version of themselves as they can. I've attended some bible-studies here as a non-religious person. It's a good environment. There's no thinly-veiled sales-tactic where the word "bula" is thrown around for no reason. You don't have the sense that the staff have no clue what they are doing, nor the sense that the kavatenders "picked up a job" here just since they needed some money. Burma uniquely promotes genuine authenticity. This is a family-owned local business where its patrons often find their own second family. I've seen it happen with my own eyes. Sometimes, there's a bit of a wait. There's sometimes one person carrying the bar for the entire night. We're all humans here. In a way, it makes the experience that more genuine."
