"TLDR: drinks are mid, empanadas are bad, and they’re adding a 20% service charge on COFFEE! COFFEE TO GO… I can’t… it’s disappointing because I would love to support this spot, but their business practices are objectively wild. If the food and drinks were as exceptional as other reviewers note, I wouldn’t mind that I somehow spent $30 on 2 drinks and 2 empanadas…but my Cortado came out lukewarm, the $8 matcha was definitely not ceremonial grade, and the chicken empanada was so gross I spat it out. No seasoning. No sauce. It tasted like a (bad) chicken pot pie. I will say, the atmosphere of Huella is exceptional. Incense burning, comfy seating, good books… would easily be a place I’d love to spend a few hours, if the food and drinks were at least decent. I’m sure this could be a great spot, but the current model isn’t helping. No one wants to be a regular where there’s a ridiculous, nonsensical service charge tacked onto a coffee. In the ~10 minutes I was waiting, only one other customer came in. Since I was check #2, I figure I was their second customer of the day (they’d been open for about an hour when I came in). Otherwise, the place was empty. I love seeing local businesses thrive, and I hope Huella can make changes that ensures their long term success."
