What People Are Saying

"I want to start by saying that I’ve been going to RedEye for about five years. I’ve tried plenty of other cafés in Tallahassee, but RedEye was always one of my regular spots. That’s why it’s been disappointing to see how things have changed under the new management. At first, I was actually excited. There was more seating and the place looked refreshed, and it seemed like things were heading in a good direction. But over time, the changes became hard to ignore. Some of the food items I always loved just disappeared. Normally that wouldn’t bother me if the new items were great, but the replacements don’t feel like they fit the café at all. It feels strange to be drinking a latte while staring at a Southwest burrito on the menu, and the food selection overall doesn’t match the vibe RedEye used to have. The oat milk change has also been a big issue for me. RedEye switched to offering only their homemade oat milk. It sounds nice in theory because you think healthier and more natural, but the taste completely takes over anything you order. Every drink ends up tasting like the oat milk instead of the coffee. Even when I skip the milk, the actual coffee tastes different now. The beans seem different, the drinks taste weaker, and the flavor just isn’t the same. With so many good coffee shops in Tallahassee, this really does matter. I want to be clear that none of this is about the staff. The baristas at RedEye have always been kind, welcoming, and genuinely great at what they do. The customer service has never been the issue. It’s the core experience that has changed, and not in a good way. The last thing that has made a huge difference is the change in hours. Opening from 8 to 4 might work for people who just grab a coffee and go, but RedEye has always been a place where people study, work, and hang out for a while. Most students do not stop studying in the afternoon, and everyone I’ve talked to thinks 4 p.m. is way too early for a café to close in a college town. It makes RedEye really hard to choose when there are plenty of other spots that stay open later. As someone who has been loyal to RedEye for years, I really hope some of these things can be reconsidered. I miss the food options that actually fit the space. I miss the consistent drinks and the oat milk that didn’t overpower everything. I miss the overall quality that kept me coming back. And most of all, I miss being able to rely on RedEye as a place to study in the evenings. I want to leave this review because it’s important to me that we can get to the root cause of why customers are choosing other cafes. Quality really matter. little changes truly affect our experiences as customers. I’m sharing this because I genuinely loved this café, and I would love to feel that way about it again."

"Tasty coffee and fast friendly service. I was helped immediately and had my menu questions answered. They even made suggestions based on my preferences which pointed me toward the Redeye. For my first time, I would say an overall good experience. I've gone for a second time now, and tried the espresso shot (which apparently they can only pour in doubles because of their machine) and the Rosemary Caramel Latte Hot. The espresso is good, exactly what you'd expect from it. I was quite intrigued by the Rosemary Caramel Latte, which was actually a good flavor pairing. I would certainly drink it on occasion when looking for something sweet, which I do not normally do with coffee."
