"Well, heard this place was good but after one visit am pretty sure people are gate keeping the smothered tots. Look. I love pastrami. Love it. Up there tied for first with mortadella. But when I tell you that I couldn’t finish my other half of the pastrami because I couldn’t STOP EATING the smothered tots with whatever the magic sauce they serve with it, I am telling you it with my hand on the Michelin guide. Pastrami was good but if it went head to head with the smothered tots I’d say it would place last every time. With that being said, we BOTH got pastramis and my partner finished hers because she eats things one at a time. Also. I took my other half home. Will I return for smothered tots and try another sandwich, 100%. This place is worth getting to the corner of Ponce and Ponce. Can’t wait to come back and try the Rachel. Server/bartender was attentive. Whole place was clean as a whistle and a great vibe. Would love to go back with a crowd."

"My friends and I were in the middle of a Christmas crawl and walked by this place when it was quiet slow. 23 people walked in to Larry manning the bar. He managed to take care of every single one of the Santa's and drunk owls all while making sure we had a great time. I couldn't recommend the place enough and in terms of late night food it is great"

(and visitors): Motorboat is RIGHT THERE!!! in Poncey-Highland at the corner of Ponce and Ponce de Leon Pl....catty-cornered from Green's Beverage...In that l'il spot all of us have stopped "seeing" for some reason.(?) Been searching for that perfect "cheap eats" spot right in your neighborhood with a killer atmosphere and a great bar, that's squeeky-clean and really tasty? Motorboat. Menu is NY deli-inspired with a couple of unique offerings. Bar drinks.....amaze-balls. Larry, the bartender.....amaze-balls. We've been working through the whole menu. Tonight I tried the FRIED FISH SANDWICH, which surprisingly (not a huge fish lover) became the #1 best thing I've had here yet- it was just fantastic. I cleaned my plate!...which I don't do, especially at places like Motorboat where the portions are huge. Opt for the homemade slaw in place of chips- the pairing is perfect. Other past faves include: *The Rachel *The African Nut Stew (makes for great take-out, btw.) *Fish tacos (rotating special) *Open-faced Roast Beef w/ Mushroom Gravy *Hot Pastrami/Rye It's not the same exact concept as us Atlantans' beloved recently-shuttered EATS, yet at only half-a-block away and at such a good value, Motorboat keeps delivering for me on that urge and many others!"

"The food is excellent and if you’re looking for soul food this is the place to be! We went there twice and both times had the best food and experience. The service is perfect and really accommodating. Especially Larry was the best! Would always come back and enjoy ! Thanks for the best time."
