"Finally made it to Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen, and the wait was absolutely worth it. We started with the jumbo shrimp appetizer—six large shrimp, plenty to share, and the sauce was incredible. I had the fried seafood platter with oysters, a very tasty crab cake, and catfish, plus red rice that was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the chicken wings with a great sauce, along with collard greens and candied yams, and everything was excellent. Free parking, a really good overall experience. Our server, Xavier, did an outstanding job—especially impressive for his first day. Very attentive. They also offer a military discount, so I highly recommend this restaurant."

"First impression visit at 5:30PM on a sunday. Large black and white sign with a large front patio and balcony. Located in a suite next to Paloma. There is a parking lot right next door. Not sure if you have to pay- I did not and my car was fine. We got the deviled crab eggs, fried green ma'tis, afta church plate, smoth'ad poke chop, geechee pasta, fried fish, and the slammin salmon. An appitizer, two entrees, and 2 non-alcoholic drinks cost about $100.00 with tip. Pros Great food and great service. The food was hot, fresh, and seasoned to perfection. The restaurant was able to accomdate my large party with alternative seating due to the loud music being played. I appreciate them acknowledging the problem and doing their best to help solve the issue. Cons As stated before, the music is very loud. Especially upstairs. This is not a chill dinner spot for family. More of a turn up spot with friends. Would I Recommend: Yes, as a spot with music and good food. Not a spot for conversation."

"Can get kind of loud. I attend after church and it was also SpelHouse Homecoming, so there was a little wait but no more than 20 mins. Food was seasoned good. The drinks definitely Hit, the DJ was doing her thang. I can't complain one bit. Came after my kids baptism, sat on the balcony on a great warm Sunday October. I have not one complaint. Looking forward to visiting the College Park Main Street location next."

"8/10/25 We were a group of 9 and it was after 9pm on a Sunday night. We were seated quickly and the waitress came immediately when we were seated to take our drink order. We the ambiance is a bar atmosphere that openly allow smoking and drinking therefore I would not recommend for parties with children. The music was very loud and somewhat vulgar. In our party we did have kids and only stayed because we were visiting from Chicago and didn’t have any other meal options for this time of night. Lets get to the food!!! We ordered the 2 after church plates, 1 smothered chicken dinner, 1?flounder and grits, 2 Jamin wings, corn muffins, the pasta with shrimp a side of macaroni and 3 extra wings. For this hour of the night and so close to closing (11pm)the food was surprisingly hot! The food presentation was nicely done. The fried chicken was nice and crispy, though not enough sauce for anyone in the party and it lacked flavorful seasoning. The collared greens were too salty for everyone and the sweet potato were not sweet to anyone although they had brown sugar sprinkled on top. The macaroni and cheese was dry and tasteless. The flounder and grits were delicious. The flounder was a nice portion size, light and crispy. The smother chicken was well seasoned and tender and the gravy with jasmine rice was good as well. The cabbage was a little tough and greasy but still enjoyable. The corn muffins were sweet and delicious and I loved the drizzle on them. The pasta and shrimp was hands down delicious! The shrimp were huge and the creaminess was perfect. The sweet tea was very sweet, the first glass of coke was weak and flat however the refills were on point. The bill for 7 entrees a side of mac and cheese, three wings and corn muffins came out to $277 which included an automatic 20% gratuity. I have to say that although I wasn’t over the moon in love with all of the food I would revisit this establishment at an earlier time and because the staff was good. I also would recommend this place because I think the good out weighs the bad."
