"A Mixed Experience at S & S Cafeteria in Augusta Rating: 3/5 stars I recently visited S & S Cafeteria in Augusta, and the atmosphere transported me back to the 90s – in a good way. The cafeteria was very clean, well-staffed, and I was greeted by everyone, which was a nice touch. However, my experience took a hit when a friend I met outside, who appeared to be down on his luck, was not allowed to eat with me. No explanation was given, and we ended up taking him elsewhere for a hot meal. I was disappointed in the treatment of my friend, and it overshadowed the rest of my visit. The food was a mixed bag. I ordered fresh fruit and asked if sugar was added, but no one knew. The roast beef was bland, and the potatoes were overcooked. However, the steamed cabbage and deviled eggs were excellent – they tasted just like my mom's cooking. Overall, my experience was average. While the atmosphere and some of the food were great, the treatment of my friend and some of the food quality issues brought my rating down to 3 out of 5 stars."

"I used to frequent S&S Cafeteria when it was in North Augusta and for the most part had a pretty pleasant experience from what I can remember even though I was a kid. Of course the NA location is no more so decided to come to the Augusta location. I have to say I’m unbelievably disappointed. The service was decent but the atmosphere was extremely outdated and run down. The place could use a good makeover. The food was lackluster barely warm and some of the food was either overcooked, undercooked or heavily salted. It’s disappointing to think that a once hidden gem filled with nostalgia is just like anything else from my childhood no longer available. Farewell S&S I’ll always remember the good times."

"Ordered me and my wife delivery yesterday and was quite disappointed. First of all i spent almost $40 to have our good delivered. It came at the time expected. When we opened the food, my wife's Roast beef was half-cooked and tough and I ordered the chopped grilled sirloin steak but instead i was looking at what seemed to be a Salisbury steak without the gravy. Looked like something they'd serve in a jail. My white rice wasn't cooked well and everything was cold. Loved the sweet potato pie though. We could've called and complained or even asked for our money back but we're just simply never spending money at this place again."

"Amazing experience! The food was delicious and the staff were excellent. I got my food to-go, there was a little wait but well worth it! I had liver and onions and my husband had meatloaf. The sweet potato pie was so delicious! I miss good cooking like this, I traveled just to taste this food and I wasn’t disappointed. I’ll be back!"

"Drove west on I 20 from Columbia to Augusta for the sole purpose of eating at S&S. They never disappoint on southern home style food and the service is terrific. Especially appreciated the help of Mr Beasley in the dining room. Great job! Made the drive worth it and wish we had one in Columbia."
