"Found this by Google searched "oldest certified organic Kona coffee farm". Booked a free tour on their website. It located up a hill in Captain Cook. The road was narrow with many turns, but it worth the drive. Received warm welcome from Tara after parking on the ground floor. While talking about their move from New York and their works in Hawaii, we were joined by Ed on the upper level. He talked about his visions to keep and operate this coffee farm in all-nature ways to keep certified as organic. Even with some diseases on the tree roots, they used the nature and sustainable methods to control possible spreading and to treat the bacteria. The tasting was then hosted by Jessada. He explained from the volcano's contributions, tree growing, coffee cherries, hand picking, washing, fermenting, drying, grading, roasting, and more. They even separated those fancy peaberries! We were able to enjoy both freshly milled and brewed medium and dark roasted coffees. Those were our youngest family member's first ever coffee! He also talked about growing and caring turmeric. We bought multiple packs of their coffee beans and one pound of turmeric to go. We then walked about their farm and also saw papayas, bananas, avocados, and other tropical fruits. The entire visit was highly professional, knowledgable and educational! We received warmest welcome from Tara, Ed and Jessada."

"So friendly!! So much interesting information about producing the best tasting coffee. This is a small 9 acre family farm that has been around since 1830 but in this current ownership for 50 years. The drive UP the side of the west facing side of Hawaii was thrilling to say the least!! A must visit!!"

"After a lovely drive up the hillside through a collection of other small coffee farms, almost near the top of the road you will find Rooster Farms! Ed, the owner/farmer was super nice! He is very knowledgeable and open about his farm, their processes and how the coffee growing industry works in Kona. I learned so much in our short visit! Ed offered us a fresh pour-over tasting of the coffee from his farm! We got to taste a dark and light roast. Delicious taste and beautiful aromas. I usually don’t like dark roast but it was great. Then we walked amongst the coffee plants for a while by ourselves. No gimmicks or anything like that, very warm and inviting. Jump in your rental car and spend a few minutes at the farm, and buy a few bags of coffee! We will be back"

"This little farm is nestled pretty far back into the hillside, but is well worth the drive out. Ed, the owner, provided us an amazing one-on-one experience, explaining all about his growing process and what makes Kona coffee so special while giving us samples of the beans he grows, harvests, and roasts all himself. The dark roast was so good we had to take a bag home (and will undoubtedly be ordering more online when we run out). Would highly, highly recommend Rooster Farms."

"Coffee tasting was very good. Got to learn about local flavors and what makes Kona coffee special. Book ahead for a tour. Up the hill a bit, but good sampling of the local coffee. $40 for a bag of coffee when we went. Drive is fine, but some people may be intimidated by it. G"
