"We visited the Kona location of Puna Chocolate Company and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The place has such a great atmosphere with amazing chocolate, great coffee, and a cocktail lounge upstairs. You can tell they really care about what they make. Everything is rich, smooth, and full of flavor. We tried a mix of their single origin dark chocolate and some of the creative flavors, and every one of them was outstanding. The staff was friendly and happy to share how they make everything from local cacao, which made the visit even more special. It is not the cheapest chocolate you will find, but the quality and the fact that it is made right here on the island make it worth every penny. If you are in Kona and love chocolate, this is a place you should not miss."

"This is a great stop in Kailua-Kona. The chocolate - in drinks, bars, fudge, and just about any other form you can imagine - is locally grown and simply fantastic. The cacao chai latte was unique and delightful, and hands down the best chai I had in Hawaii (and I had many). They have it set up so you can even see the chocolate being ground and mixed in a room in the back. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and will steer you to something you'll enjoy even if you, like me, don't know all the finer points of chocolate. Highly recommend this shop!"

"Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears, I have come to praise Puna, not to bury it! To say that coffee and chocolate produced at this wonderful spot are delicious would be an understatement. I believe that the coffee here is easily the best coffee I have ever had. As a musical theatre performer, my work has taken me across the country, and I make a point of finding the best local coffee shops everywhere I go. The coffee at Puna is by far the most flavorful coffee I’ve ever tasted. I wouldn’t consider myself a coffee snob by any measure, but I may have turned into one after drinking the Cold Brew with vanilla and the Frozen Hot Chocolate (both made by Makayla) and the Coconut Mocha (made by Casey). For the first time in my coffee-drinking life, the flavor notes were more than just words on the back of a package - they were subtle, yet powerful presences on my palate. The same can be said about the chocolate. I do not know the names of all of the workers to whom I need to give my thanks. However, the chocolate creations produced by the hands of these wickedly talented artisans cannot be celebrated enough. I tried the Dubai Bar, Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans, Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts, the Bourbon Caramel Dark Chocolate Turtles, the White Chocolate Matcha Bar (and I historically do not enjoy either of these flavors), and the Honey Wine Berry Bar. Each and every one of these provided a unique experience that was delicious to the last bite, with my favorite being the espresso beans and the white chocolate bar being a close second. The quality of the products, which is substantial, is overshadowed by the quality of the staff which made each experience unique, exciting, and educational. Each member of the crew that I encountered (Makayla and Casey mostly) had such thoughtful insight on not only what they enjoyed the most, but what they thought I would enjoy based on my preferences. I felt more like an adventurer on an expedition through a chocolate/coffee safari with expert guides and less like a customer purchasing goods from servers. I cannot recommend Puna enough. If you have a developed palate or if you just want something that is delicious to the core, Puna is the place for you!"

"Cute little store. Nice selection of chocolate and souvenirs. The frozen hot chocolate was okay. I think a chocolate milkshake would have been better. The alcoholic drinks looked amazing but not something I wanted at 1pm. The store is pretty small and seating is not the greatest but there is some seating outside."

"We popped in to check out the chocolate and coffee, and we ended up staying for hours! The cocktail bar was incredible, easily the best craft cocktails we had in Kona. Our bartender was attentive and so friendly, even though she was juggling the bar and the shop she didn't break a sweat!"
