"Hale Cocoa Cafe & Chocolate is hands-down my go-to spot in Kainaliu. The coffee is fresh, flavorful, and truly unique to the area—you can taste the quality in every cup. The shop has a great island coffeehouse vibe that feels relaxed and welcoming. They offer a wide variety of coffees to drink and beans to buy, so it’s easy to enjoy a cup there and take some home. There’s even a small liqueur bar in the back, and it looks like they’re currently building a back patio, which will be an awesome addition. If you’re out shopping around Kainaliu—checking out the mini thrift stores, surf shops, and local boutiques—this is the perfect place to stop and recharge. Clean bathrooms are a big bonus, and it’s a great spot to grab a drink, enjoy a small snack, and soak in the island coffee vibe. Definitely worth a stop."

"Their chocolate selection is amazing! They have free samples for their dark chocolate which helps you decide what to get (as all samples lol). I love that they have smoothies, lattes, alt milks, and Hawaiian teas. Must go if you’re in Kona!"

"What a great experience taking the chocolate farm tour. Our guide, Keith, was phenomenal! The 2 hours flew by, despite the pouring down rain. It made it a fun and unique adventure, cause you can’t control the weather. Kudos to this farm and we will add the coffee shop to our stops and found out the owners also own the Theatery restaurant next door."

"***This is a review for the tour only*** Firstly, this was a fantastic tour, best weve taken on the island so far. Our guide was amazing (unfortuanetly, his name escapes me, but did have a cacao farm on the east side of the island) , and was able to answer a plethora of questions. He showed us a bunch of plants they were cultivating and the purposes/uses of each. He was very knowledgeable about the coffee and cacao growing and refining processes. It was very cool to see this information presented from a growers perspective. Trying the fruits in the different stages of the process was fun and informative. The different products that we tasted ran the gamit of the chocolate world. 90/10, multiple 70/30, white, milk and a delightful spiced bar. Highly recommend taking a couple hours during your vacation to learn about the plants and process they go through to provide delishious chocolate."

"Highly recommended to check this place out! Good coffee but not the pastries. I’ve got my 1st souvenir from Big Island - a cute wooden Christmas ornament!"
