"First time visiting Hawaii — and Maui — with family. We stopped by Aloha Mixed Plate for dinner to try some classic local plates. For starters, we ordered the coconut shrimp, served with a sweet-and-spicy pineapple chutney. Solid appetizer and nicely fried. For entrées, we shared a mix of plates: • Kalua pig plate with poi, lomi lomi salmon, rice, and mac salad • Grilled mahi mahi topped with pineapple salsa • A teriyaki-style beef plate, also served with rice and mac salad My plate was the kalua pig, which was tender and flavorful, especially paired with the poi. The grilled fish was cooked well and fresh, though fairly mild on its own. Overall, portions were generous and the plates were filling. We also ordered pineapple juice with free refills, but it tasted noticeably watered down, which was disappointing. Overall, a solid introduction to local-style Hawaiian food. Not a must-visit, but a reasonable stop if you’re in the area. Rating: ★★★☆☆ Last visited: January 18, 2026"

"Just got back home after 5 days in Maui. Checked this place out for lunch after it was recommended to us. Scenery is perfect as it sits right off the water. Has a nice covered patio so it provided nice shade while eating. I’m super picky and particular about what I eat and rarely try anything new. I really wanted teriyaki chicken but they only had teriyaki beef. The closest they had was Shoyu chicken. Or I could try the mochiko chicken but that was more like fried chicken. The server was so nice and brought me out a small piece of the shoyu chicken to try before ordering (I didn’t ask, she just did). It was very good actually. The plate has 2 chicken thighs, a side of mac salad and rice. It was a large portion. The others in my group had Teriyaki Beef and the Aloha Mixed Plate. All plates were nice large portions and everything was cooked up fresh and delicious. Would absolutely return here for Hawaiian food when back on the island. Definitely recommend."

"Excellent local food served in a beautiful setting with a friendly and attentive staff. Patio seating at comfortable tables that are comfortable spaced from each other. The atmosphere is very inviting. The view is excellent. A small bar is well stocked and provides counter service. The adjacent parking is adequate. However, it can get very crowded during the busier times of the day and parking can be limited. Street parking is available but it can also be limited."

"My recent dinner at Aloha Mixed Plate was absolutely outstanding. From start to finish, everything delivered — and the highlight has to be the swordfish special. It was cooked to perfection and quite literally melted in my mouth. I’ve had many fish dishes, but this one stood out. My wife ordered the Ali‘i plate and raved about the lū lū — rich, savory, and perfectly seasoned. Meanwhile, my buddy went with the mixed plate and demolished it before I could even ask how it was. The portions were generous, the flavors bold yet balanced, and the overall vibe of the place was relaxed and authentically Hawaiian. Service was friendly and efficient, and the setting on Front Street adds that breezy island charm without sacrificing comfort. If you find the swordfish special on the menu, do yourself a favor and go for it — you won’t regret it. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lahaina who wants a meal that feels both local and top-tier. Five stars without hesitation."

"I asked several locals where they would go for a good Loco Moco, and most of them pointed me to this spot. While I can’t say it completely lived up to the hype, I was semi impressed. The gravy wasn’t as dark and rich as I expected, and the rice was a bit mushy—more like a light chicken-style gravy than the deep beef flavor I was hoping for. On the positive side, my wife really enjoyed her shrimp meal, and the $6 select canned beers during happy hour were a nice surprise. The price for the Loco Moco felt a little high, but that seems to be the norm on the west side."
