What People Are Saying
from Google"Their lattès are the best I've had in Des Moines. They use oat milk, which foams really nicely. Also, they do some amazing lattè artwork sometimes. The staff is really friendly and efficient. It's located in a really interesting, restored older building, which has a cool vibe. I really love this place. Oh, and it's a bike shop, too! Haven't had a chance to use that yet, but the staff seems really friendly and knowledgeable. They carry an inventory of high quality bikes. I'm going to get my next LHT tuneup here."
"Not seeing them at the Iowa Bike Expo to buy their coffee we decided to go to their shop, which was our first visit. Coffee is great. Unimpressed with their shop. The to go cups are terrible and only was offered one size, other sizes available if you are staying to drink it there. When ordering the counter gal seemed unimpressed when telling her what I was wanting. Almost like since she had to do more than push the button to dispense the coffee confused her. Parking is confusing as there are no signs directing you that the parking lot across the street is theirs. Only found out from the counter lady when I made a comment about no parking while there was a parking lot next door completely empty but had signs that coffee shop patrons couldn't park there. Don't blame them when another business puts the restriction in place but signage would be nice. I would have left had it not been that I went over specifically to go to their shop. But driving around for 15 minutes trying to find parking to find out that the parking lot across from them was for their customer use was frustrating. Then to be treated like you are an inconvenience leaves a bad taste even when the coffee is good. The gentleman that have been representing this business at the Bike Expo don't reflect the staff behind the counter."
"First class service on every level, both at the coffee shop and the bike shop. The dining staff make you feel at home. Even though normally they would call you up when it was prepared, they came out and served me my food and coffee. This was on a busy Friday morning! Jeff and Jordan are quite the dynamic duo in the bike shop, I completely trust them to build any kind of bike. I have had them build me a Orca Aero (road bike) and now working with them on a Titanium Cyclocross bike. These are the guys to come to if you want to build a custom rig, they will help you build an amazing machine and make the process enjoyable as well."
"Chain & Spoke Coffee is an amazing coffee shop experience that I can't recommend enough. The expertly crafted Espresso and smooth, refreshing cold brew drinks are top-notch, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff make the experience even better. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with big windows providing natural light and a comfortable space for relaxing or working. One unique aspect of Chain & Spoke Coffee is the on-site bike repair shop. This practical setup allows you to enjoy your coffee while your bike is being repaired by the skilled and knowledgeable staff. It's a convenient and fun twist to the coffee shop experience, and makes Chain & Spoke Coffee a must-visit for those who love both cycling and coffee. Overall, if you're looking for a unique and enjoyable coffee shop experience, Chain & Spoke Coffee is the place to go."
"This is my go-to coffee and workspace stop when I’m out riding on the Ingersoll strip in Des Moines. They’ve got one of the better light roasts in town, plus free refills which is nice when you're planning to stick around for a while. It’s a pretty popular, busy spot with a crowd that’s a mix of young families, bicyclists, students, and young professionals, but there’s a wide array of seating, so finding a place to hang out usually isn’t an issue."
