What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Loved this whole experience. All kinds of vintage railroad decor, plus a huge antique shop to peruse. I went for breakfast, was the only diner for about 30 minutes. They bring out menus (vegan menu available) then you order at the counter. It was so warm and comfy! Seating for 30-40? All tables with chairs. Clean space. I had an omelet with hash browns, ciabalta bread, diet coke. Nice large portion. The omelet was stuffed full of ingredients. Super yummy! There is construction across the street, so no parking right in front. There is a parking garage next door. Good service- prompt delivery of food- $19 for my food/drink. Enjoyed the whole experience! Will go back."
"Friendly service, solid breakfast in a fun vintage setting. Went with biscuits and gravy and my son did Fried chicken and waffles. We ate it all and wandered around the antique store for a bit. Reasonable pricing."
"Best Chicken in Waffles in the UNITED STATES!!!! this place deserves an award, the atmosphere is nostalgic and preserves time. The chicken is juicy, peppery, well seasoned. Every time I’m in Des Moines I can not leave until I visit Railroad Bills"
"I'd give 6 stars for service and atmosphere if I could. Super friendly and helpful and attached to a great antique shop. Food was amazing, my girlfriend got mini pancakes and biscuits and gravy. I had the Burlington sleeper platter which was so so good. Im in town for four days but planning to come back again, it was that good"
"A short story long, after glass blowing, we came here to eat lunch. Our group of 8 arrived at 1pm. We sat down and looked over the menu. We went up to order and the waitress was very nice. She talked to the grandkids about the food they ordered (vegetables, sides, condiments, etc). While we were waiting, we walked around the antique store side. Lots of cool stuff. The owner let the kids try the "antique" phone (rotary). After walking around 10 minutes or so, we went back to our table and food was brought out right away. Either we timed it really good or they had it under the warmer. It was hot. As for taste, everyone enjoyed it. I don't know exactly what everyone had, but I had a burger with a sunnyside up egg on it with bacon and cheese. We'll be going back next time we're in Des Moines."
"My new fav thing to get is the vegan biscuits and gravy with a side of tofu scramble and put the scramble on top of the biscuits. 10/10!"
