"This place is Amazing. Hands down one of the best hole in the wall breakfast/Lunch places ever. Staff was very friendly and had a very relaxed vibe to it. We got breakfast and the pancakes were perfectly sized where you could actually eat them. The price looked like it was from 2005. Very affordable place! Would highly recommend!"

"Amber was awesome she talked with us like she knew us great smile and she even had hot cocoa for my coffee which unless you know me you wouldn’t understand. Biscuits and gravy was good didn’t taste like all pepper . Eggs perfect cooked definitely need to check them out . Not a bad price and they are open for Thanksgiving she told us"

"There is an entrance in the front and the rear. There is public parking behind. I ordered the loaded hashbrowns, with added jalapenos. Food tasted amazing. Crisp, yet tender hashbrowns. Everything is made from scratch.. Amber helped us with our group of 6. Great cafe atmosphere. Black coffee is great - nothing needed to make it better (Amber makes it herself). This is a must return when in Mason City, Iowa!"

Took 45 minutes to get simple breakfasts which unfortunately gave us time to listen to the local’s interactions, discussions of neighbor’s problems, or listen to one patron’s phone videos 😖 Really emphasize supporting local businesses, but just can’t say this one is worth the effort. Food was ok, but standard diner fare. Poor cook in the kitchen working on too small of a stove. Leave it for the locals…"

"Cook's Cafe has friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. As others reviewers have experienced, it took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive but that was okay in our case. However, the food quality and portions for the price charged were both very disappointing. Two of us ordered Loaded Hash Browns for $7.50 and we both thought there was a mistake and they accidentally gave us a side order of hash browns instead. The waitress verified we received the correct item. The portion size was about a quarter of what one would receive if they ordered the same item at another breakfast place like Ihop or Perkins. Another ordered the Biscuits and Gravy for $7.95. When delivered this was three small biscuits with a bit of gravy. The biscuits were rubbery and the gravy was bland. Others in our party ordered some different entrees and their reactions were similar. All this made for a very disappointing experience."
