"I’m sorry but this place is not it. They don’t display their prices which is not cool. Sandwiches were so bland, lacked flavor and made with low quality ingredients. I got the California dreaming and was infuriated at the avocado smash they used. Packaged avocado and flavorless. Bare minimum is to use fresh avocado. This is unacceptable. Croissant was dry, chicken salad had little mayo and we didn’t taste the pineapple. Sandwiches were saved by the hot sauce."

"Cute spot with good coffee! I recommend the iced pistachio latte but they have a decent menu with plenty of options even for non coffee drinkers. The apple and Gouda croissant sandwich was bland, the Gouda was not fully melted and everything felt dry. I would try this spot again though so hopefully this was just an off day!"

"I could not figure out how my $5.50 coffee was coming out to almost $10. I'm pretty sure there are some undisclosed fees, and I would have asked if I hadn't gotten a call as I was ordering, which unfortunately divided my attention. Regardless, I looked on their menu and didn't see anything about extra fees, which I don't think is actually legal. I want to patronize local businesses over big chains, but undisclosed fees strike me as a bad business practice, and at least for me, make me not want to go back. I don't like to feel like I got scammed—it's just kind of the opposite of good service. Actual service was fine. No major complaints, though I wish we'd gotten different flavor of chips (and they were nice about exchanging the flavor), but we got our food and drink in a reasonable amount of time. I will also add that we enjoyed our croissantwiches and coffee. We had no problems with the product itself, and on its face the pricing was fair if we ignore the extra fees—my problem is the principle of it, not the pricing; transparent pricing, even if the price is higher, is I think a reasonable expectation. Kind of small space that I think lends itself to people mostly ordering to go, which I assume generally works fine, though there are a few tables if you want to dine in."

"This is one of my favorite neighborhood spots, it feels like a time capsule of a second wave coffee joint and a hidden gem only known by those living directly in the blocks surrounding it. The staff seems to know almost everyone who comes in and always has the excited energy of a family and friend run business! I get the bagel sandwich way more often than I’m willing to admit and it hits every single time. They don’t skimp on the egg or bacon and for that I am forever thankful. I would like to see them use their ‘dine-in’ service more to save on the disposable bags, cups etc. If you’re seeking a classic no frills cup of black coffee, this is your spot. It does however fall really short in terms of their espresso based drinks. I’m not sure if that has to do with their exclusivity to Julius Meinl or a lack of training/upskilling their barista station. If they were to overhaul their espresso/latte prep with a local roaster and modern puck prep/milk frothing it would be a tremendous improvement all around I know firsthand other customers in the neighborhood would like to see. My only other negative note would be the volume of the place. As expected for a small spot when it gets busy it gets louder, but the staff does tend to be loudly talking/conversing with each other to the point of being disruptive to those who may be using this spot as a place to temporarily work or take meetings from. Simply another second wave coffee shop signifier in my experience. Love Red June and hope to only see them improve and become even better than they already are. Until then, I’ll be getting my usual black coffee and bagel sammy."

"My girlfriend and I just moved to Bucktown, and the first thing we decided to do was find a new coffee spot. Boy, are we lucky to have Red June!! Quickly it became our favorite cafe spot in the CITY! The coffee is delicious as they use Julius Meinl coffee beans. The regular cold brew and nitro cold brew are perfect to sip on. When you decide to get a more specialized drink, you can always taste the coffee, and it is never too sugary, which we love! Plus, they also serve simple cafe foods that are made fresh and served right to you (breakfast and lunch options). Give this spot a try!!"
