What People Are Saying
from Google"Came here spontaneously while visiting another restaurant in the area and I only came in to use the bathroom but as soon as I walked in, the vibe was so chill ans inviting! Not like other cafes when you walk in and feel so unwelcome by the clientele. The energy in here was so chill and inviting! I wish it could have stayed a bit longer. I walked up and ordered their Ube Latte Hot with Oat Milk. It was so pretty when they gave it to me and had a very nice but not overpowering ube taste. I asked for a lid and they kindly directed me to where the lids were, however I left my latte at the counter to use the bathroom and they put a lid on for me! That was ao sweet of them! Overall such a cool place! If I wish i could have stayed! It was such an inviting place and I cant wait to come back and just chill. I would recommend this place!"
"I didn’t have much of an opinion of Side Practice after my first visit. And then I went back again. And again. And again. Every time since that first visit has been consistently great. Even at their busiest service is really great and efficient. Big fan of the pandan vanilla latte and the ube latte. I also had a donut (wanna say from Gurnee Donuts?) that was great as well. They also do a great job at fostering community. I think between them and Kanin there is just a lot of love and investment in community on this block."
"I live in the area, and wanted to stop by since we have the time off this week. I’m a huge coffee nerd and former barista; a lot of my friends have recommended this place. 10/10 no notes. I got a cold brew, and my partner got an iced vanilla latte. Cold brew was balanced and not overpowering, and my partner said the vanilla latte was great. What truly blows me away was the beans I took home. They had a small selection of their own in-house coffee that the barista told us just entered the shop today. They had one coffee called “Daddy’s Face” (apparently the owner’s younger daughter drew all the art for the coffee bags!!!!) which is according to the bag a Colombian natural process with notes of watermelon bubblegum, lime, green apple and cantaloupe. This is probably one of the 5 coffees I’ve had in my life that has truly blown me away from the first sip. Every note on the bag I can taste, and it’s truly one of those coffees that tells a story. Ya’ll rock. Definitely coming back as often as I can. Don’t sleep on this place."
"Not the place for me. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place for a while and finally had the chance to try it. No welcome or friendly greeting when I walked in. I tried looking for the menu but it’s on the smallest sheet of paper on the front counter so I felt in the way when deciding what to get. I mentioned it was my first time here and no help or any kind of conversation. I ordered the flan latte and it was waaaay too sweet, I couldn’t taste the coffee at all. Also the milk texture was not on par for the price I paid and it was lukewarm. I’d expect a coffee place as pretentious as this place to at least get latte milk texture and temperature right but nah. Will not be going back"
"Extremely comfy garden unit coffee shop. Lots of local art up on the walls and on offer. Seating is a bit limited but is laid out and furnished in a way that feels a bit like a living room. Drinks were very well made and this is the first place that I've seen that has banana milk. Made for a very nice milk alternative with a unique flavor. Definitely will be coming back"
